That's exactly what it means. If you're lucky you will get close to a 48 hour power reserve, but there is no rotor like automatics -- meaning that regardless of how often you wear it, the time keeping mechanism will need to be wound regularly.

These movements last up to 56 hours. You can wind one time in two days.

You'll feel a light resistance and the winding "click" will stop. At that point, it is fully wound. Usually about 30-40 winds or so.

I have this movement in one of my PAM's...i wind it about 25-30 times each morning...and it's always still running the next morning.
I actually quite like self winding, it's old skool cool!

Concerning this movement on my Pam 504: The hour hand won't go past the seconds indicator anymore. Is it possible to open the watch myself and look at the problem or is this better not to do?

I would recommend contacting one of the watchmakers on RWI for this. The 504 has quite a bit of internals that have to be moved when disassembling and it would be better to have a watchmaker handle that for you.
