Getting To Know The Place

Just ventured into a PAM rep from Ryan over at InTime. I have two questions about this watch.

1. Are PAM clone movements like Rolex clones and suggest a service right out of the box?
2. Does the ceramic bracelet from the PAM 438 fit this watch? I’d like to have the option to go ceramic if the leather strap is bad.

Thanks for the help!

Look, all these cheap movements are... cheaply made. Surprise. While they may not be as bad as some of the 3135 clones, they are still riddled with micro dirt. Combined with subpar materials (compared to gen movements) these movements tend to fail. Some are DOA, some fail within weeks and some don‘t fail after years. There is no consistency. So, yes, it helps to service the movement right after you get the watch.
Or, if it works, just wear it until it fails und buy a new one after the movement dies. I guess properly servicing (complete movement disassembly, cleaning, oiling) a rep watch will cost at least 50% of a rep watch‘s asking price. It also comes with the risk that the watchmaker can‘t replace broken parts since you just can‘t source spare parts for some of these custom clone movements.

TL;DR: As long as you can still buy the same model it‘s not worth to pre-emptively service a rep watch. Just buy a new one and sell the broken one for spare parts on RWI.
