Pam 389 question

Sorry I though they were the same watch and it was a typo on puretime. My mistake.
So the 1389 the only difference I can see is a blue hand on the subdial. Is that correct? Or is one ceramic? It would be good to find out.
I'd be happy with either model, is there one particular rep that's closest to gen?
Thanks

They are essentially the same watch, although the PAM1389 is using a P.9010, which is a thinner movement which allows the new model to use a slightly thinner case. The new PAM01XXX models also have that distinctive blue seconds hand to identify it from the previous PAM00XXX models using the P.9000 movement.

Talking about the rep, the PAM1389 uses an A7750 with decorative plates to make it look like the gen movement which has the same balance wheel @11. The PAM389 uses now a clone P.9000 which has the balance wheel @7, same like the gen as well. But the PAM389 (latest VSF) has the anti-magnetic shield inside whereas the PAM1389 does not (which it should have). So from a replication perspective the PAM389 still have a slight advantage. But these details are hidden behind a closed caseback so unless someone opens it, no one will be able to tell.

So now it becomes a matter of personal choice, the older, thicker PAM389 or the newer, thinner PAM1389. It's up to you.

Brilliant. Thanks!
So if I decide 389 it's the latest vsf rep I want to get? What rep model would be the best choice for the 1389?
I'm more interested in the look on the wrist rather than movement detail so that wouldn't be a deciding factor. If there was nothing else in it and they both were as close to each other perhaps the blue hand on the 1389 would be the deciding factor..... I think it adds a nice bit of subtle detail.
How's the crystal on these? Do they need any ar coating? Any other mods recommended?
Cheers

I've had the 389 with the Seagull Movement from Kuvarsit for about 3 years now and still runs like a charm!
Full Titanium Case, Ceramic Bezel and a soft iron plate covering the movement as the Gen!

As Mysterio said; it's all a matter of personal choice!
Good luck with whatever you decide:)

Curious as the ad does not show the soft iron plate. Anyway, if that's the case then the ones that the TDs here can source the same watch, and at the same price. Just an example, you can ask your favorite TD for it. I'm sure they can also source the watch.

If the movement doesn't matter to you, the lite version (that I listed on top) is $50 cheaper. The crystal is fine but if you get an aftermarket upgrade from prof it would raise the level of the watch that much more (it's not cheap though).

I have the XF 1389 with 7750 - there is a cheaper version with a cheaper movement, and it's also made by SF and VSF, but Sead said that the XF 7750 was the one to go for (I wouldn't know the difference between factories). I don't know how close it is to gen, but it's not possible to spot a difference looking at photos on the net.

I have spotted that the edge of the bezel is cut ever so slightly rougher than the gen, but you have to get in really close - you can see that on the pics on pure times site too. I love the watch - I think the reduced height helps on my wrist - which is 7" but I think the 389 would as well - it's difficult to believe how well it sits on an average sized wrist. The rubber strap actually appears to be rubber rather than silicone as it attracts no dust / lint.

The blue second hand is a bit controversial, but I like it.

When I say movement doesn't matter I meant more the fine detail of the movement. I'd rather pay the extra $50 and get a better movement and potentially more reliable watch

sead would recommend the XF 7750 version because in the long run if it does need movement repair, the A7750 is easier to get parts for. The ST2555 in the Life (and cheaper) version usually needs a replacement of the whole movement. So the ST2555 would be a cheaper watxh initially but if it does break down then the cost of replacing the movement would put it almost level with the A7750 version.

The A7750 isn't per se a better or more reliable movement than the Seagull. But like I indicated above, repair of the Seagull would be more expensive than for an A7750.

Great thanks. I like the blue hand also although I've been known to change my mind. I'll give it a few days before I order it.
I usually buy from toro or Angus but what site does Saed own? I've read a lot of positives here regarding his level of service
I'll look up the xf 7750 if I go for the 1389.
I think I may order a new 44mm also..... ha

Thanks for all the advice
