i have some credit with a TD for a watch i had ordered which is now not in stock.

ive been admiring the PAM 389 for some time and the reviews i have seen suggest the KW is the best choice. The problem is the TD i have credit with only offers the V6F version. From what i have seen V6f and KW seem closely aligned on many products. Is this actually the same watch?

Sorry if there is an obvious answer to this but my searches did not uncover it.

thanks

You can add to this AT factory (AT for Aqua Terra watches), it's also the same: KW = V6 = AT

Did you go for the Seagull og 7750 movement?
Really want this watch, but might have to sell one first. ;)
(Watchbox is full.)

PCCardoza did you go with ZF or V6/KW? Ive had quite mixed luck with ZF. Cant say I am a fan. KW really seems to be stepping up their game in terms of finish and QC.

EC6669 I went with the 7750. I really wanted the latest KW watch both for the highest quality finish but also for the higher waterproof rating that the TD was giving it. Not that I really put much faith in the 50m without a full service but... I must say the Seagull version was very tempting at the price.

Aren't the two KW's exactly the same except from the movement?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The 7750 came in november and the Seagull in desember of last year.
The Seagull is 21.000 vph and the 7750 is 28.000 vph, but that's not easy to spot on the little second hand.

EC,

I think you are right. I was not paying attention there is a KW version with the 25J. Probably would have been just fine with that. When I was looking I somehow missed that one (hazards of post midnight watch shopping). I saw only a much inferior version with a 25j from another factory. Given that its a closed caseback and the tiny second hand as you said, I probably spent 80 dollars that I didnt need to. Only possible advantage is that I know my watchsmith is really comfortable with the 7750 and given that I live on a small island in south Thailand I dont have a lot of service options.

Will post some pics when it arrives.

Nope. There's a fuss about its reliability versus A7750s but that's it.
(deco plates just don't do it for me either :))

So paul tell me is the 7750 a better choice? I was about to pull the trigger on the seagull now you've got me second guessing. Does the seagull use deco plates and the 7750 doesn't? Does it really matter with a closed back case? Also any noticeable weight difference? Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm not a movement specialist mate. Far from that actually :)
Some say the 7750 clones are easily reparable and true work horses, whilst the other half says ST2555s are a lot more reliable (and cheaper as you may have noticed). And these guys state they'd chose any movement over the a7750 that does the same thing to the same or lower price.

Submersibles have seconds @9, so there's not much to worry about extra gears breaking in the way with either.
Deco plates are there regardless of the case back and weight close to nothing, don't know the movements' weight but certainly isn't something to be worried also.
My 389 is the A7750 version, was 'hand picked' by the TD and stopped working in about 40 days or so.
The 508 I got m2m is also an 7750. It's absurdly precise and starts working just by looking at it... go figure

TBH it's a hit and miss game mate, choose as you wish and enjoy the journey!
