Hello RWI,

New to the forum here, just recently got into PAMs. Ive been following some of the threads mainly in the PAM section. Unfortunately, my first post is regarding an issue with my PAM 386 that was just recently acquired.

I purchased a 386 v1.1 from Puretime about a month ago. Immediately off the bat, I noticed one issue with the watch. The CG lever was very loose and didnt lock into place with much security. In otherwords, it is VERY easy to open the CG lever without any resistance.

Before I move on, excuse my terminology (lack thereof).

However, a few days ago, the watch stopped keeping time. I noticed the second hand wasnt rotating at all, so I took the watch off and looked at the back casing to see if the rotor was still moving. Sure enough, it spun like it should. Looking deeper inside the mechanism, I noticed the small gold wheel inside (rocks back and forth) was not moving at all. My guess is there was no tension left in the spring.

After spinning the rotor for a few seconds, I still noticed there was nothing happening. I did a little bit of research and tried a few small tips and tricks to jumpstart the asian 7750 and still nothing. I had also opened the CG lever, and with the crown in the closed position, slowly wound it clockwise. Nothing. One thing I do notice is when I wind the crown, the rotor does not spring back after a few clicks (like my Hamilton X Wind does).

I have already emailed PureTime to get the situation sorted out under the warranty (fix/replace the loose CG lever, fix the movement)

Do you guys have any idea as to why the watch is not keeping time? If I can get it to start moving again, I can live with the CG lever being the way it is without having to send it back to its home.

It sounds like the dial might be pressing against the second hand, if the balance is still moving then that is most likely the problem easy fix, if you can take the movement out look for screws on the side of the movement they should be holding the dial down to the movement.

Just read the post again if the balance isn't moving there could be a screw loose in the movement, the winding spring could be not holding tension, dirty balance a hole lotta sh*t that could be going wrong, the 6497 is a easy movement to work with but 7750 is a pain, I hate working on them.

If you have no replies, try to contact by PM with some watchsmiths of the PCTeam: Wiz, goin6633, Dmuit (Domi). Tell them ALE is sending you.

Good luck

ALE

Thank you! Much appreciated!

P.S. The PAM Reference Guide should be changed to Bible...amazing how much help it provides!
