Hola again fellas, I wanted to share with you guys the steps I have done so far to get some Patina on my Bronzo. I picked this one up from Martycus a few months ago, Thanks again Marty!

My bud Sasa408 had been telling me to get a Bronzo and initially I resisted because I wasn't drawn to it as much. I picked one up on a whim M2M and liked it but I received an offer to sell it and since I was heading out of town I thought why not I could use the extra cash for the trip. But once I got back I needed one and that's where Marty's came in.

I wore it a few times but was really interested in doing the whole Patina thing to it. I was looking through the forums and found the salted egg thing the liver of sulfide thing the sea water thing, After the search I decided I wanted to do the Salt water thing because I preferred the green as opposed to eh blackish Patina. I was planning on heading down to the Bay and bringing some sea water in buckets but then it occurred to me that Sea water is just water with salt, I know there is much more stuff in it but I lost patience. LOL! So I gathered up some Sea Salt and some Himalayan salt my wife had in the kitchen and got to work.

Here is what the watch started as when I received from Marty.

When I got it I did the salted egg Patina on it, i only used one egg and left it in the bag overnight. The top of the case started to darken but that isn't the look that I wanted so...

I saw on someones thread that the Patina achieved was just through wearing it all summer, I think that was Mr. Bands thread. So I wanted the similar effect. I started by wearing it to the gym for a week straight. I put it on an old nato and wore it in reverse, meaning that the face of the watch was facing my wrist and the movement was facing up. It got all sweaty and the watch started to darken a bit. I thought this would work but it would take for ever. So I started the experiment...

This is the watch with the salted egg treatment and after wearing it to the gym for a week straight.

I grabbed a tupperware container, filled it up about less than half and then threw in the Sea Salt and the Himalayan Pink Salt and mixed it up

I dipped the watch in the water and then secured it to the cover with the nato and covered it up in the tupperware and for more effect, I sealed it in a Ziploc bag and set it next to my window sill in my office to let the sun shine on it and "bake" it. My thinking was the salt water would evaporate in the sun and the fumes would evaporate to the top and basically coat the watch. I only dipped the watch in the water but did not submerge it for an extended period because I didn't think the watch was waterproofed.

So this was Saturday morning when I started, I came back at night and checked up on it, this is what I found....

So I don't know why but I put the tupper ware in the microwave and nuked it, then put the watch back in the container and the zip lock bag an left it over night.

When I took it out in the morning it kinda looked the same. I had picked up a Rolko Bronze Shark buckle for it, so I threw it in the mix as well. There was already some Patina on it but I wanted it to kinda match the watch so in to the "soup" it went. The buckle I submerged completely in the salt water though.

I let it sit overnight again and removed it the next day. So it sat in the salt water bath and baked by the window sill Over the weekend. This is what it looked like then.

I removed it from the "Soup" and let it dry on top of my desk for about 4 days, only because I was waiting for the strap to come it. I was able to pick up a Mustang Canvas strap that is 26/24mm specifically for the Bronzo. Once it arrived , I ran upstairs and too the pics of the finished product. These Pics are better seeing as there is natural light as opposed to dim lights in my office. I mounted it on the strap and placed on a custom Watch holder made by my bud stockmover. Enjoy the pics, I know I did!

The Canvas strap is nice, but unfortunately too small for my liking.... I will have to hit up my favorite Strap maker Jeremy Primestraps for a custom one for this beast!! Stay tuned for pics, I will update the thread when I receive it. maybe a couple months though. I need to finish off other projects in the works as well.

Dude, that looks awesome! I had to pick up another bronzo as I really missed it. I prefer to take a milder approach but you've given me some ideas.

You know, with some Brasso, you could fix that in a heartbeat.

Sarcastic?

I don't agree with these excessive patinas
Sorry, I like natural and slow patina

But I respect your taste and you have got your purpose

You gotta admit that it is very impressive what our members are coming up with to speed up this process. Simple Chemistry at its finest. I think you can say its now an art form with Patina technique.

Im going for the "found under the sea after Decades look" hahaha.

I know its not everyones style, but i have many that are sleak and clean some that are vintage and this one that is more extreme in looks. Good thing is i can wipe slate and start clean with a lemon juice bath. I haven't tried it yet but might do it just for educational purposes. If and when i do I'll post pics! Thanks guys!

And I'm OK with members not liking it, we are all entitled to our opinions [emoji2]

Since we can easily remove and clean the patina I see that the most important is that people can play with the patinas of their watches

If that is your idea OK, go ahead and try what you want

now i'm just rocking the natural cleaned up look

Really digging the finished product OP - nicely done!

I probably won't go as far as you when I get my hands on a bronzo, but I definitely think a bit of green adds character. And that strap is absolutely stunning. I was looking for one exactly like it.

I think it 100% achieves the look your were going for. Well done and thanks for sharing your process!
