Hi all,
I'd like to share with PAM fans at RWI about a recent mod, which I completed. I initially started out simply wanting to give the pearl a sunken look, but i I went on to do an additional mod, which was to modify the equilateral triangle that holds the pearl. A diamond file was used in the process to give the triangle edges and sides a more rounded feel.
I'll let the pics do the talking:
The sharp object that you see above is a dremel tool, which is used 'sand' down the pearl.
Ok, all done. Finish up with fine sandpaper 150CW grit strength and then work it to a shine using Autosol (a metal polishing product). Remember to mask up the pearl while you are working the triangle to a shine. The polishing of the triangle with autosol will rub off black stains onto the pearl!
Lastly, polish the pearl to shine with a rubbing compound. Turtle wax was used.
The finished look:
Steady hands and loads of patience needed...
The surface and overall look does not look to perfect under the loupe, but when it is worn on your wrist, these imperfections do not exist to the naked eyes.
Totally pleased with the modifications done.
A wrist shot to finish this post:
Oh, by the way, if you do notice, I have since went on to modify the weird looking cannon pinion, which has a recess in it. I will post this in another thread when the pictures are properly organised.
Apologies for the bad pictures. I don't have any good cameras to capture macro shots.
