Hi Guys
I just received a Pam 318 from a trusted dealer after being sent the QC pictures of the watch on the calibration machine and it was running at 7sec per day fast. I have checked it now that I've received it and it's running about 5mins an hour fast. Its not even close to acurate. What would be my best option to get this fixed? I love the watch it looks and feels great. I don't really want to send it back either. Are Calibration services expensive?

Thanks
Jono

It's probably gotten magnetised in transit - it happens sometimes. Find a local watch repairer who doesn't mind reps and get 'em to demag it for you. Won't cost much.

I thought about getting a demagnetizer from Ebay, actually. Is there a special version for movements or can any device do the job?

+1, i'm sure this is the case.. the balance wheel spring is tangled on the last two threads on the regulator holder(second last small pin on the end of the swan neck needle)

If you buy yourself some duct tape and roll i into a ball( sticky side out) you will be able to case the back off with it.

Magnetism is not be the only cause for such increases in rate . Oil on the hairspring or some other anomaly or fault in the balance not yet seen until looked for .

I got the case open(awesome trick) and had a look at the balance wheel but I don't really know what to look for nothing seems to be caught up or anything I do see that the time adjustment is a few notches to the + side is there a chance the adjustment would have moved?

Try and get a macro shot of the movement, and hopefully someone might spot something that's wrong. Might be something simple, that with the right directions you will be able to fix yourself. Otherwise it might need to goto a watchsmith to get fixed.

Thanks to all your replys the problem was as you had expected the spring was caught on it's self the thing is now I've probably moved the timing adjustment oh well it's at least not running seconds per minute fast anymore. I'm so glad it's fixed I can wear the watch now as a time keeper.
