Hey folks. I,m planning on getting an eta movement for the pam 308 regatta. The reps appear to use asian 7750 with some conversion to move the 30 min to 3oclock. But the gen uses calibre op xxvi which is based on 7753. So is it better to just get an eta 7753??

The OP XXVI is based on the Valjoux 7750-P1, only with the rotor removed, as claimed by one of the dealers.

Note: The Genuine Movement is also a 7750 with the Rotor Being Removed... Users of the Rep can also simply remove the Rep Rotor and it will function as a Manual Handwind watch like the Genuine

Maybe you've read references to say otherwise, but that's what I got from the internet.

My bad. The Gen does not use 7753, I think I clicked tye wrong movement in panerisource.... That's what happens when you read on the phone while half asleep lol.

Anyway, doesn't the 7750 have the subdials at 12, 6, and 9? The 308 has the subdial at 3. Also the 7750-pr1 i thought stand for power reserve, which is used on pam 090?

I want to replace movement with eta but can't find a 7750 with subdial at 3.

Edit: fixed typos.

The gen uses the 7750 bi-compax. which is a 7750 with additional gears added to move the minute counter to 3 o'clock.

I have one of these movements right now and I can tell you with certainty the stem height and thickness is different on the Asian. The Asian movement is thicker which means you will have to add a spacer to the ETA to make it compatible with the Asian case. Not impossible of course, but then you run into other problems like hand tube length.

Thanks for that info. What would your recommendation be for the movement, stick to asian 7750 or eta 7750 with those changes on tube and stuff you mentioned? What about a 7753, since the 3oclock already has the 30 min subdial. And no date ao no need for date pusher at 10oclock

Since it's a clone that has minor differences in performance, why not have a professional on it?
Even if he change the balance wheel the cost will be lower and you will have a checked movement
at its' best.

If an ETA 7753 have same measures i can't see why not. I think that you already have an asian 7753 that
could be a nice movement with some work.
I read somewhere that 7753 are not so robust as 7750 but i couldn't find anything else about.

Ok so I pulled the trigger on a swiss eta 7753. It has adate wheel on it but the regatta does not have a date window. Should I remove the datewheel to be used elsewhere or risky and keep as is.

Also how hard to change to eta 7753 if it's thinner than asian?
