I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find how good the older 308 replica with the Venus movement is. Would it need anything other than a lume job, or are there obvious flaws? Any help before I decide to pull the trigger would be appreciated.

Whoo. Nice to see some talk on the 308. Thats the next PAM on my hit-list.

I doubt it would be worth the time and money. The H-fac version is very accurate in every respect expect that the gen is manual wind. But honestly, who's going to notice? It's not like it has an exhibition caseback.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can't the rotor just be removed after purchase so that it will only wind manually? I've heard that this can be done to other movements, why not to A7750?

The Venus movement is supposed to be bulletproof, while the Asian 7750 has definite issues. The reference guide mostly just talks about the new version, but it would be nice to be able to use a watch with confidence...

Hmmm. Have you talked to TD's to see if they could source one for you? Can't find much info on it. I don't have an Asian chrono of any kind so my opinion isn't worth much, but I'd like to think I could maintain a finicky movement. After all, these are mechanical watches. If we were looking for indestructible watches we'd buy G-Shocks. It sounds like you would pour more money into modding a Venus 308 than you would sending an H-fac one into the shop every several months.
