PAM 292 Interchangeable Parts with GEN?

Hello all, I'm in need of some expertise here. My crown broke on my PAM 292 Ceramic (GEN) and I was wondering if anyone knew if the ceramic crown on the REP was interchangeable with the GEN? My watch is not under warranty and buying a REP from Lucy for under $300 seems like the way to go. I know the crown will not be exact but that doesn't bother me as I'll be keeping it for a long time.

Any Advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

why?

what is the purpose of going franken when you have a gen? losing money?

just go to an AD since you will have to waterproof your watch and maybe service it if it is one of the first model. You will have a warranty and a real gen logo on a gen crown...

Keeping it for a long time seems like the key words here.........get your crown from your AD......

Appreciate the advice everyone. I purchased this with the crown cracked at a great price. Just looking at my options at getting it fixed. I went into Hyde Park and they said they'd have to send it back to Panerai but it wouldn't be cheap. They don't have parts on hand and only Panerai does. Don't have a quote from them yet, but was looking at a cheaper fix.

Any repairs at AD are expensive, I can understand you asking about part interchangeability... Unfortunately I cant answer you, no idea.

Its like the horror stories over at PuristS, cracked 292 case and a quote for like $8000 for the case only rofl...

This is the hardest PAM to get parts for it seems -- I was in the same boat as you about 2 years ago. My solution was to buy one, then another and then yet another rep. I sent my gen down to Dallas, they came back and told me $2k and 120 days for the crown/tube repair (which included a mandatory movement servicing that I appreciated, but did not feel necessary) and I told them to sell it on consignment, which they did rather quickly and respectfully. After handling two Noob and one KW factory rep (and managing to do repairs on one Noob myself), I can definitively say that the parts are not interchangeable -- they are not even interchangeable between the Noob factory pieces surprisingly. And when I speak about "interchangeability," I'm speaking about crowns and tubes, tubes and cases and crown stems.

My advice is to take your gen dial, hands, movement, case back and crystal and put them in a rep case and hope like hell the rep crown & tube work. If not, you can shave down the stem or tube a tad (per a tutorial on this site) or fill the gap between the tube and case with black epoxy. Its not perfect, but a good lesson. Or you can pay the cash and wait for the repair. That's honestly easier, but I don't know our financial situation or patience level either haha. My issue was both money ($2k for a crown on a $9k watch seemed like $20k tires on a $50k car to me) and I'm notoriously impatient.
