So, for those who know me i'm a movement whore. I like putting eta movements into the reps I really like. I've been fairly successful in getting these transplants done thanks to our great watchsmiths except for my 187 transplant.

Bottom line, the dial did not fit the eta datewindow since the rep date window is not in the correct location. So I looked for a super rep pam to put my eta7753 into and came across the 288k. I noticed a couple of members had already had this successfully done.

The problem is that none of them knew exactly how it was done. The main problem is that the modified A7750 movement is thicker than the ETA7753 or the A7753 by about 1mm according to babola on RWG. Member Wolf also told me that it would not fit. He said that the pushers would not line up with the movement. Did I listen? Of course not because i'm stubborn, pig headed and determined.

I contacted Speedy to see if this was possible and he told me it was an easy swap. After getting the watch he realized that Mike(Wolf) and babola were right. He had to lengthen the posts for the subdials and then bend the hour and minute hands to clear the subdials. Another option may have been to bend the chronograph pushers to fit as per what member Wolf thought might be needed. Overall, it's not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. I also had him do the crown modification so that the crown sits flush against the tube which is an easy tell for such an otherwise accurate rep. Here's a comparison I did with my watch and pictures of a gen 288 I pulled from paneristi. I tried to replicate the shot as close as I could with two screaming kids running around! The rep is always on the left.
