I own over 40 watches (about 6 high end gen)

I recently received this watch and was very excited until I went to wind it - it dn near takes the prints off my fingers (an exaggeration but you get my meaning)

I could possibly live with that, however it STOPS ticking, right on my wrist!

My repair experiences with returning to TD have been long and drawn out.

Does anyone think this will be a simple fix? If so I'd just rather pay a watch smith locally to repair. If it going to be almost movement swap, then I will send the watch back to TD.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? Could it just be a lube service is needed?

TIA
Mark

As you've said, repair experiences with TD's tend to be long drawn out experiences. You can either experience it all over again, or chalk it up to one of the beauties of our hobby. That not everything is perfect, that sometimes you get a dud, and that the nature of the game is imperfection.

i have this feeling ... it is a long shot ... when winding the watch, observe this wheel, does it rotate when you stop winding and release the crown ?

hope this can be of some help ...

Bonesey - you're right. Level Z - I am on assignment in Japan until Monday so I will check that wheel when I get back. I will post outcome. Best, Mark

OK, I put it on the winder for the time I was overseas (2 weeks)

I came back and checked the gear turns when winding as suggested by 'Z' - it does. It does not turn after I release the crown.

FWIW, the winding is still not easy like on my gen PAM, but it is easier than it was.

Provided I either wear the watch or have it on the wonder it keeps great time!

I think that the crown does not have much clearance beyond the crown guard, making it less easy to wind than all my other gens and reps.

So, for now anyway, it seems that giving it a workout has loosened things up a little.

Fingers Crosssed.
