Got tired of waiting for some additional parts so I have proceeded to build this watch

Here's how the 7753 looked as it came from GZ:

Not bad, but flaws have been previously observed by me and others, extensively
(wrong tachymetre, wrong depth bezel, wrong AR, wrong crown, wrong CG, wrong dial, DW-- everything but the movement)

Last weekend I cased her up in a new old-school case from T4D/PWC, which accepts the 7753 with some reluctance, and requires some drilling of the movement ring to get the datepush function back online. I also added a T48 1.2mm crown, which gets very close to gen in this setting

Whomever is modding the crown guards at Robert's suppliers' is doing a great job, it is really 95% there.
The crownguard pin needs to be polished yet.
I also like the depth, thickness, and precision of the bezel markings on Robert's watch too.
This is really the best case I've seen for this project.

Here's a gen for comparison

My to do list:

Relume hands
install gen dial
install lello/leo 7753 DW
polish sides of bezel, shorten bezel by 0.5 mm (it's actually too deep)
polish crownguard pin
single side AR on sapphire (debating, won't do unless I can get gen yellow color)

Would appreciate your feedback

Let me know if you want details on how to get the movement to sit right.

VERY NICE...
I think that is the same case that I currently have a 7750 in. Yours has the same CG and bezel as mine.
I just traded my 7753 for a 7750 for my 164... Thinking about it, I should have done this instead. But I love my 164!
Thats a great watch, let us know how you finish it up!
COngrats!

Yes I traded a Swiss 7753 for a Swiss 7750 non chrono... Silly trade, but I really like the 164 and I like knowing it has a Swiss movement in it!

We actually commissioned this case set for 7753 application but changed it to 7750 as the prices of 7753 went too expensive .
If I am not mistaken the dial on our 7750 has the date in the right position for a 7753 application as well although not 100% on that
The crown guards we buy from a different source the newer shipments now actually come with polished pin and the lever slightly closer to the pusher
We are about to put these on daily special in the next few days at $199 complete so they will be even better value

T4D, that is correct... your dial is set for a 7753. But at $199 your killing my sale... These were going for $288 last week!

T4D, where were you when we were paying through the nose for much lower quality nonsense?
I'd love to buy more but I have too much of the low quality nonsense lying around still

CBR tell me about it, I bought two of these at the old price...

I just pulled my sale... Im going to keep it. Its never going to sell for near what I have in to it, and I need to get over my crappy attitude and just wear it!
Yours is beautiful man... I should have thrown my 7753 in it.

the issue of CG/pusher shape came up in a different context and I thought I'd share a little graphic representation of the issue:

composite%20angle.jpg

The arc formed by the crown and chronopushers has to be continuous, as seen in the gen example on the left.
The PWC/T4D case shown on the right has it pretty close once you put in a T48 crown at the right stem length.

The 7753 case was way off in that regard and no amount of buggering with the crown or CG would fix that. Worse yet, its spacing and pushers were way off from standard dimensions and wouldn't take CGs from other cases
