500 extra bucks for an ETA7750, definitely not worth it. You can get a gen ETA with $250 from eBay if you're lucky or you can get 2 extra 243's and when the first one breaks you can swap it with a brand new one without scratches or blemishes. I don't know how much reliable a ETA is compared to an asian in these reps, I've heard that they are using refurbished ETA. All my asian 7750 are still running like a dream, which is actually annoying cause I was hopping for them to brake so I can send my watches for a fix , some AR service and extra mods, but with them working I just can't let them go for months.

This is a recurring question and the answer is always, the 500$ is better spent on getting another super rep. Asian ETAs aren't the same as before. Swiss ETA is still better but not worth the 500 clams, IMHO.

I was kinda thinking the same thing, preciate the tip on The ETA on the bay, Smokie.... what do you guys use on your leather bands to protect them? I been using mink oil, which has been great on the rep Fiddy strap cause it comes light and the mink oil has darkened it to almost gen color, but is this good on all leather straps or is there something better?

A serviced Asian movement is just as reliable. I even have some that haven't been serviced and working fine too.

Mink oil is good but it darkens the leather a lot and it's not so good as a finish, it's more of a conditioner. On the leather straps I'm making and want them water resistant I'm using Resolene cut with 50/50 water, it's an acrylic finish, you can not use this if the leather already has a type of finish applied. The next best thing that you can use on leather that already has a type of finish and make them somewhat water resistant without much darkening is Aussie leather conditioner, great natural finish that contains beeswax and keeps the natural look of leather. An excelent conditioner that doesn't darken the leather much like mink oil does is Lexol, makes your straps soft as a baby's tushie .

Or just don't get them wet. All my divers have rubber on the ready to swap out if I'm going in the water.

Well, none of these finishes will make your leather waterproof, just water repellent, unless you dip it in hot melted wax and then you get wax everywhere on your clothes. It's not even a good idea to completely seal leather completely, it's a natural material and it needs to breathe to stay healthy. These finishes are good to protect from dirt, water splash spots, makes them easier to clean and at the same time conditions the leather making it more healthy looking, flexible and prevents cracking.
