PAM 233 -- A question about GMT hand

Hi folks,

Lello and I are considering to buy the PAM 233 rep, but in order to make our mind we would like to know about the functionality of the GMT hand.

Info about it are far from univocal so far:

Dealers:
http://NoMoreJAndrews.XXX(mod edit)

Time4Direct / prestigewatchco: no words
http://replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=196&t=45413
http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=36980

Buyers:

Rocketeer: "GMT hand tracks 24 hrs but isn't independently adjustable"
http://replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=196&t=45413&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10#p400711

We asked Trusty.
His reply: "It is clearly stated on my webstore... The meter is not real. Thanks" (????)
40 minuts later, a new message: "APologies. mine has a working power reserve. Thanks"
Then, after a new ask to clarify: "Yes. Working GMT hand. Thanks"

???????????????

So, can anyone confirm which of the following three statements is true?

1 - The GMT hand is fully functional: it turns in 24 hrs, and it can be set by the crown.
2 - The GMT hand is partially functional: it turns in 24 hrs, but it canNOT be set by the crown. (In this case, does anyone know whether it can be set by opening the watch?)
3 - The GMT hand is fake: it simply does not move (in this case it does not matter whether it can be set by the crown or not).

If this watch is worth a buy, then there is a small chance that we can do something about the white datewheel. ;)

Thanks,
sssurfer & lello

I have no idea what the truth is, 'surfer, but none of those options are correct. The GMT hand should travel the entire dial in 12 hrs, not 24. That's why there are no 2nd time zone markers (it uses the normal dial indices) and why there is a day/night indicator for the GMT time zone.

King has a superb 233 for a great price...trouble with the 233 reps is the date wheel...I can't get over this tiny flaw...it's killing me!

I would hesitate to label any 233 rep "superb" until we find out the details about the GMT hand functionality. Not to mention the white datewheel and the automatic movement.

How does DSN's GMT weight in against the standard cartel GMT's? I know his base is a 7750 which is not a natural GMT movement. I've thought about getting a gen ETA and using that in a standard cartel case.

Folks, thanks for your replies, just please keep this on topic. Here we are speaking about the new 233 rep, with the Seagull movement in, 44mm. It has nothing to do with the 7750 nor DSN, let alone the 088.

hooligan, thanks for making clear the 12-vs-24 hours issue.
As a matter of fact, lello and I would be satisfied with a GMT hand that turns one full round either in 12 or 24 hours, even if not adjustable at the crown. We would only reject a completely fake GMT hand.

How in the world do you view pics on Kings site?
Until a few days ago this webpage http://www.kingshowbox.com/goods.php?id=1547 was displaying pics. I see they have gone now. But don't worry, they were the same pics as all the cartels'.

BTW, I got a reply from Time4Direct/prestigewatchco:
"The Gmt hand is fixed on the 233 it is not independently adjustable it's only for the correct look".

As he is a seller of this watch I rely on his word. Just, I got surprised, as on this pic by member watchblog, who got the watch, the hour & minute hands are about 2:30 hrs after the hands in T4D/PWC pic, and also the GMT hand looks about 35 degrees after the GMT hand in T4D/PWC pic. And a 35 degrees GMT difference is a consistent value with a 2:30 hrs difference, if the GMT hand turns in 24 hours.

Ok folks, got some more replies and did some more search too on iOffer and so.
I came to the following figures so far:

Dealers:
3x "Fake / Faux GMT hand".
2x "GMT tracks 24hrs / is a 24 hrs hand". Not adjustable.
4x "Functional / Working GMT hand".

Buyers:
2x "GMT tracks 24hrs / is a 24 hrs hand". Not adjustable.

Considering that:

1 - a 24hrs tracking hand can be either considered as fake or functional depending on how conservative a dealer is...
2 - both the buyers reported that the GMT hand is moving and tracking 24hrs, and not adjustable...
3 - dozens of pics I examinated point to this same direction...

... then I am leaning to assume that the GMT hand is not completely fake, but it tracks the 24hrs and it is not independently adjustable at the crown.

This is enough for lello and me to try this watch.
I'll post advice if we will be able to make correct datewheels for this watch.

Thank you all once again, you helped a lot.

Check out King's webstore. He's got the GMT 8 Days with black date wheel. Date font looks a tad bit thin but pass-able. Trouble is, no high cannon pin fix. I know it's just a rep...but it still irks me that we're so close, yet so far away.
