I really like my 212 but I cannot come up with a strap combo that I really like on the watch. None of them are horrible I just havn't foudn one yet that I feel is perfect.

I had a pretty nice Bob Marino strap on there in black calf with white stitching at first and it was OK but I didn't feel it fit the watch.

Then I did a Brown calf with brown stiching...ehh only luke warm for me.

I've since switched to a Bob Gator strap pictured which really changes the look of the watch and gives it a whole new vibe...but I'm still not convinced it's the right strap for this watch AND this particular bob strap is a little thin for my tastes.

I keep going back to the CF strap that it came with. The rep one is junk but i think that the CF best fits the watch. Does anyone know of a source for a GOOD CF strap for this watch...is the OEM one the best bet?

Any other pictures and suggestions are welcome as well as I'd love to see various combos.

Greg Stevens makes a carbon strap called the "Scoopster", TC straps have a carbon Toscana (I have one) that is nice quality and waterproof, to boot. Whan I had a 212, I found myself wearing it on my Mario Paci Private Stock in cognac more than anything else...

I have been struggling with the same issue. The 212 is one of my favorite watches, but I can't come up with a strap that I really like. The CF strap that comes with it just looks cheap.

I'm sure someone has a good combo that they will share a pic of. :D

Hooligan: How thick is that Carbon Toscana strap? I havn't purchased a TC strap to date mainly becuase I get soo confused when I start looking at their site becuase they have like 8 different brands of TC straps and I can't keep them all straght.

I really really want a Greg Stevens strap but I think it will be one of his more traditional leathers when I eventually spend that kind of money on one of his straps.

The carbon Toscana that I have is right about 4mm thick. The perfect thickness for me. It's this one:

Don't get overwhelmed by the different lines offered at TCStraps.com. The basic breakdown as I see it from lowest price/quality to highest is:

1. TC brand straps
2. Toscana straps
3. Giovanni e Figlio
4. Mario Paci

Although, some of the higher end Toscan straps like the Fiero and the Arruginito are on par with the quality of the GeF straps, which are really close to being on par with the MP straps.

Good luck!

Any pics? I bet that does look good.

I just put a Panari black and yellow velcro on my 212. Not really what I'm after. But I like it better than the Carbon Fiber. I just can't get past the cheap look of CF. :( I will take a pic Saturday.

I understand what you mean. I like the Bob gator you show. The problem is none of them just grab you and make you say "thats it, perfect!". It could be a long journey. When you decide on a strap that is perfect, you can sell me the gator. I would be willing to help you out like that.

Since the 212 is a fairly high-end and rather classy PAM I would go gator. I would go black with black stiching or off/white or cream stiching. Elliot just had the black boney gators for $90.

I think the PAM 253 with the waffle dial was made for the carbon fiber bands. I personally would not spend more than $50 on a good carbon fiber band. I agree with the other poster that you can only make carbon fiber look so expensive. Both Don's and Panatime make a pretty decent one. Avoid the super cheapies because they look shiny.

Here's mine. I also have an 063 on SS and a 127 on BOB toffee colored strap (currently looking for a vintage ammo strap), but this one is my current favorite.

Strap is PAW purchased over at 'risti. That's a really good place to get used straps BTW.

Gents,
Thanks for the suggestions and pictures....while we've got a 212 thread going I have a couple of points of clarification that I'm not finding to be consistant in pictures.

1) Should the pushers for the chronograph be polished on the 212 or brushed?
2) Should the hands on the sub-dials be black or silver?

Here's a pic of my old 212, on the MP Private Stock. I think this watch really looks nice on a stitchless leather strap. The polished buckle also matches up to the polished bezel nicely. 8)

Oh, and the pushers should be polished and the subdial hands should be black.

That does look very nice...I may have to try something out like that. The trainer on the TV show the biggest loser is wearing a 212 or 253 on a NATO strap...didn't care for that much either!...soo difficult to nail down the right strap for this watch.

Did you polish the pushers yourself?

Nope, that's the way the Seagull powered 212s come, AFAIK.

3D, yes, that's Enzo's custom PVD 212. It's a beauty...

I'm facing the same dilemma...
I have a 253 with deployant on a rubber strap that I would like to change.
I was thinking of a 24/24 leather with pre V ss buckle but cant make my mind on color.
stitching or not is also undecided.
I'm talking about the one on the left...
;-)
