A few days ago my first Panerai rep arrived, the 210. I know, it's released almost a year ago, but it seems to get little love here, so I wanted to share my experience so far and some pictures.
I choose this watch because of the historic background, the clean dial, the cushion formed case (really like that) and its understated appearance. Also I wanted to try a "smaller" Panerai first before moving to the bigger 47mm.
The general look and feel is very good. Mine came with the gold hands, as the version with the black hands was not available. There rep gold hands look more like rose gold, I prefer them to the yellow golden gen hands.
A thing that puzzles me is the colour of the lume. The colour is really yellow with a green hue, while I expected it to be white or cream white. I don't know if this is the correct colour, or if the colour is off, or if the lume has aged and changed in tone.
The strap is ok but I don't like black straps too much, and as I expected this stock strap is short (75/115), too short for my 21 cm wrist. So I ordered an Orloff strap at the same time, and it arrived the same day as the watch. I've read a lot of threads about straps and how they change the view on the watch, and it's true! There's no comparison between the rep stock strap and a fine handmade leather strap.
On the back all the inscriptions are there on the right places (this is an H-factory N-series), but the engravings are not as wide and deep as the gen. I was surprised by the finish of the movement. Of course the incabloc is an instant tell, but otherwise it looks very nice and accurate. And it works well too: after the first winding the watch kept ticking for 60 hours!
