PAM 202/A Build - Help needed!

Alright since I didn't have the patience to wait 4-5 months for NW to build me a 6152/2 I decided to go ahead and build me a 202/A since there's no excessive modding to be done and I can pretty much do it all by myself but I need some help from the PAM gurus round here.

So, what parts other than FGD's dial should I get. Is DSN the only one making that PVD case? Is his the best one? How about CG and crown? And caseback? Shoot your suggestions and I thank you in advance

Well, DSN's PVD is the best, yes.

The problem is that when you mod/replace the CG and the crown (both need it), you end up with SS or mismatched PVD parts and you need to recoat, anyway.

Avitt's DLC is VERY good, color-wise, but the tougher coating doesn't allow you to "age" it like you could with regular PVD. Not a huge deal to some, but a deal breaker to others.

Not sure if Rolli at RWGjr is still doing PVD or not?

Why don't you just get a 6152 from DSN and do some piece work yourself. Keep the closed caseback until you want to do a night watch movement, ring, and caseback. Then you can do some mods yourself like a CG, dial, maybe hands. that way you can still wear it between steps as the "base" for the watch is a complete watch!

What if I buy the CG and crown and send it to DSN so he can do a PVD run along with his cases? I guess I should ask DSN for that though.

I doubt it, mate. I don't think HE does the coating - my bet is that he simply uses an exclusive supplier that no one else has access to.

Having said that, it can't hurt to ask...

FGD dial and hands. Old school EL case or cartel case. Get ziggy to drill pre-v holes. Acitss dlc is the closest to pencil lead color like gens. Jakob caseback

Second Coldi. I just scored a CG from Hijack over at RG, DLC'd Torro CG that scarily matches my DSN PVD case, same matte color, matte finish and refracts light he same as the case. Research your forums, PM older members for parts and patience is the key to this hobby!

Good news is that it took a week to ship to Ohio from Spain, bad news it if you're using a T48 be ready to shave that lever tip.

Dial looks to be from FGD...better be glad you got that 203a dial. Spoke to Simon and he probably will never do another run of dials...

What kind of case are you using hub? DSN? My biggest concern is having to shave to feet and the bare metal showing. And ya I will be using a T48. How did you remedy now showing the steel?

I have a DSN case with his PVD coating, Cape Codded and allowed it to wear naturally through everyday usage.

The Torro CG required no shaving of the feet, totally flush mount to the case. The lever was shaved to accommodate the T48, and bare metal does show when the lever is opened, but that is something that just doesn't bother me. Eventually I will use the oil and heat technique to darken the metal.

My dial is a FGD 004 with his lume, might need the Vac or Ziggy touch later down the road.
