Okay repaneristis, need your help-

One of my 177H crown guard screws fell out sponteously. Probably a few days ago. I didn't notice until the remaining CG screw worked itself loose, and suddenly I found myself with a very UNCOOL looking crown guard swinging loose off the side of my case. I checked the threads on both holes and they were still good, so no stripping...

Has this every happened to you?

How do you keep the screws tight enough without stripping the threads? Seems difficult because the screws go from loose to super tight in about 1/8th of a turn, so hard its to build up a lot of torque gradually. I'm worried cause a stripped CG thread doesn't seem to be an easy fix, unlike the lug threads. Or am I overreacting because titanium should be a lot stronger than that?

Thanks for any tips!

Hasn't happened to me on my Ti Pams yet... but has occured on my 112 and 186.... after sourcing replacement screws I now check the screw tightness before I put any pams on my wrist.. I didn't want to try the loctite blue (removable) because it takes a pretty good amount of torque to remove and figured i'd kill the screws in that process.

I've pondered using hairspray as a really removable loctite alternative, and I've also pondered using clear nailpolish on the screw heads to hold them in place... would be removable with a bit of work.

Thanks for the tip

Thanks@OI

I've considered the loctite or even teflon on the threads but was worried they might damage the threads so I'll save that option just in case.

I think the nail polish just to keep the screw head from turning is a great idea-- That way you don't have to go crazy with the torque...

I'll give it a try.

TRUSTYTIME / Andrew already shipped me some replacement screws a few hours after I asked-- How's that for service?

Same thing happened with me, except I caught it before the second screw worked itself loose.

Andrew sent me extra screws and crown guards, and I didn't even buy the watch from him! (I'm sure they cost only penny's, but still, he didn't have to do that without charging.)

Now I just check the screws more frequently.

Nice hearing from an allergy doc as I am a psych doc. You know, my friend, I used the bigger screws from a eye-glass fix kit. Works great and I never looked back.

I've seen a lot of docs (judging my their handles) on these forums.

Not sure what that means...

I've been trying to source one of these eye-glass fixing kits with appropriate screws for a while now... the three I've found have had screws of the incorrect size... yeesh.
Any tips on sourcing?.... lens crafters or something?

Have your tired nail polish? A drop or so will do and it is easier to remove than loctite.

The CG screw on my 111 fell out, I found it however, it it seems I stripped it putting it back, and have a new screw on the way. Just hope the housing for the screw is not also stripped.
