I recently recieved my dsn fiddy, and as happy as I am about the fiddy, there are still some minor issues to be taken care off.
the case has some wierd shapes on the side above the lugs. I tried to take some pics to show it.

is this a common thing on all the fiddy cases, cuz I dont remember noticing it on other fiddy's that I have seen...??

I'll be paying attention to your responses here--and would like to see more overall photos..... I'm hankering for a DSN Fiddy myself and so would be very grateful for a discussion on the merits and demerits of his. I do have one question (being a lefty) are the 127 and the Destro version (what is it the '217' or something) the same except for the 180 degree shift of the CG?

Please give us the lowdown on DSN's Fiddy--pros and cons. I love the look, don't like his price, but am willing to pay for the best out-of-the-box out there.

Yeah, that case looks like it has some issues, turkish.

nielsen, the Destro version of the 127 is, in fact, the 217. It's roughly the same, but the dial printing is different (Marina Militare at 12 and Panerai at 6) and the movement decoration is different (CdG stripes, instead of the "graffiti" decoration of the Fiddy movement.

Thanks for that, Hooligan. Is DSN's still the best out of the box?

the thing is I'm not sure that this case represents all dsn's..? if the case is just how dsn normally delivers them, then ok- I'll have to find a better case somewhere! but on the other hand, if the average dsn fiddy doesn't have this particular problem, then I might have to ask him for a better case, and return the first one..

Looks like an anomaly. The Fiddy I bought my friend from DSN doesn't have that issue... Those lug appearances look like they've been worked on (as in attached to the case body) instead of machined from a single block of steel.

I'd send it back to DSN to get a replacement.

To answer questions on the best out of the box Fiddy.... Yes, DSN's is the best out there currently. If you want an accurate Fiddy, need to score on an EL Fiddy or go franken.

the lugs has not been attatched to the body, but the vertical milling and the horizontal milling has not reached the same depth. so the question is....is tis an example osf a normal dsn fiddy case, or is it just the one bad one out of many?? I have sent dsn a mail 3 days ago asking this question, and I gave him the link to this thread....so now I'm waiting for a response. previous to really noticing the problem with the case, I asked him for a new minute hand, as the original one was deformed, for this issue dsn was as always very pleasant to deal with and the hand was in the mail one day later. I hope that he will be willing to help me with this issue as well, if it's not common for dsn fiddys to look like this. Despite the bad luck with this watch, I'll still say that I have a very good impression of dsn, as theese issues will happen once in a while to any dealer!!

I'm fairly certain this is just a bad case, not indicative of all of DSN's Fiddy/217 cases. I'm 100% certain there would be dozens of threads like this if all of DSN's cases were like that.

Life would be so much easier for Davidsen, and his profit margin that much greater, if he took care of quality control. I just don't get it.........

hehe I came across this old thread by chance.... just thought I would do a summary here, about what dsn replied to my mail.
he stated that this was the standard of all his fiddys, and that I was welcome to send it back for a refund???? now though I am very pleased with the watch as such, it really annoys me to look at the wierdo lugs.(I obviously kept the watch)

what I find odd is though, that if this is true, how come I'm the only one crying about this issue. even though dsn told me that this was a non visible problem only to be seen via super macro, I'm sure other members than me would find this flaw very disturbing! the thing is, that you don't neede to know anything abpout watches in general or this specific model, to know that this is just a mistake on the finishing of the case.

so my thought now is this: fair enough- we all know that dsn sells high quality reps, but you can't win all the time, this time he apparently got hold of some less good cases?? I can surely live with that, but then it would make no sence for me to order a sepperate case from dsn (that I will pay for) untill he offers better cases.
perhaps he doesn't carry such bad cases normally, but just didn't really get how visible the problem actually is in real life- maybe the one I got was whorse than normal? I dunno.

it would be really nice to hear from others that bought a dsn fiddy recently, if theirs have a similar problem.
secondly, if anyone knows of a dealer that sells fiddy cases that would fit the parts from dsn- perhaps getat or the likes of it?

cheeers guys.

I'd be pissed trk, that case is not what you pay big money for IMO.
There is something wrong there.

Can you see it also from "a straight above view" or only from an angle? I haven't got my DSN Fiddy with me so I can't check it but it's nothing I've thought about, and I can't see it on my pics. Bought about 1½ years ago.

Found a side view shot, and it could of course be the shadows (and dirt) in the pic, but it certainly looks like it may be the same flaw on mine. Can't believe I haven't noticed it myself. Sooooo, in conclusion, it's supposed to be like that! ;)

cheers col and expolder!! it is a bit annoying imo. and though you have the same flaw on yours expolder, I'm very sure it ain't supposed to be like that. even if that really is the best dsn can do... now how the hell do we get us a good fiddy case????????

worth mentioning is, that one of my lugs are much worse than the other three...if they all were like the "better " ones then I wouldn't be as unhappy..

That can't be a standard for a hi quality rep such as DSN, trk. I suggest you contact dealer and arrange a replacement.
Good luck.
