Hi guys.

Looking at Toro's website he has a "platinum swiss movement". My question is, is it as accurate mor or less than the standard movement. Is it worth the price? (I know usually not).

Swiss will be a better movement, but it's a low beat 18,000bph gen is 21,600bph as per Asian. Your extra $170 would be better spent on having one of our modders service and upgrade the incabloc on the Asian movement, well that's my option for what it's worth

The "platinum" simply refers to the electro plating used on the MVT.
However these are a TW (or was it HK?) modded MVT and supposedly of good quality. A lot of the RWI 'risti went crazy over them a few months back when they first became available via a guy in Turkey.

I think the op is referring to the $170 genuine Swiss eta movement upgrade on the Noob 111n Tb, the standard noob Asian movement is plat plated also, but I'll stand corrected if wrong. :lolcina:

Hello,

I personnaly have bought one swiss-111N from Toro (not received yet) and I think the same as what stands above: basically I hope the swiss mvt to be of better quality.
However, while being a good basis, it clearly lacks 2 things (at least):
- no incabloc at all,
- low-bit mvt.
It means a move to a modder will be necessary to get something "visually" close to the gen, to add an incabloc.
And that after that, you'll still will have sthg running low-beat, then definitely not gen-like.

On the other hand, the asian version is high-beat, and has an incabloc. But probably not the reliability of the swiss one (not sure anyway).

So I guess it depends on what you're looking for :
- if you're looking for sthg the closest as possible as to the gen, I guess the asian version is a better option,
- if you don't care that much about low-beat vs high-beat and just want sthg that "looks like" with a very reliable mvt, I think the swiss one is the option to go. Adding the incabloc operation cost into the balance, additionnaly to the already supplementary 170$

However, I think in both case those 2 reps are awesome reps, so you can't get wrong in choosing one of them. I personnaly would probably have chosen the asian version if it had been available when ordering, but it wasn't the case so I switched my mind and finally went to the swiss one.
And I would probably be very happy with it, as I would have been with the asian version too.

Cheers,
Stève

+1 to what Steve said

The eta base Panerai uses (6497-2) is not the same model as the eta the rep factories have access to (6497-1)
The differences are covered by Steve, whereas the Asian is a copy of the eta panerai uses (6497-2)

You can see my opinion about this matter in PAM REVIEW GUIDE

“There are replica versions fitted with “Swiss†movements. These "Swiss" movements are not the same of the original mounted in the current gen watches. They are, at best, a "cheap Swiss" Low beat movement with a "cheap" Novodiac shock protection system instead of Incabloc and with an horrible Swan Neck, the same or worse than which you can find in the replicas. The advice is: Save your money and get the good and accurate enough Asian movement.â€

Therefore:
The "Swiss" movement
is it reliable?: SURE
is it accurate?: Less than ASIAN ones
is it worth for plus 170$: absolutely NO, IMHO

I personally wouldn't even make the change for the same money
