Hey guys,

I recently got the PAM 111H Swiss Mvmt from Josh. It is a great watch, highly enjoy it.

The only thing that bothers me is that the watch ticks very loudly. If the watch is on my wood desk in my room, I can clearly hear it ticking away at night. Also, a few days ago, my girlfriend complained about the watch while we were watching a movie in the theater.

Basically, when I wear it, and someone sits next to me, it grabs their attention immediately. Can be a good thing, though.

Is this normal? Do genuine PAM's tick as loudly as well? Or is that a sign that something is messed up with the movement that would require attention in the near future to prevent watch damage?

Other than that, the watch keeps great time and looks amazing with a BOB strap.

Thanks guys.

Nothing to worry about, 'loud ticking' is quite normal for ETA 6497 manual mov'ts.

You have a one nice movement there.

cheers,

Beautiful sound, Better to hear it ticking than not ticking at all.

So this is normal? I just got my 177 from Lay and its loud! I mean, wearing it in a normal bedroom in front of my pc, it just tick tick ticks away.

It is noticeable. With this 177 being a very close replica, will this loud ticking be the strongest tell??

My rad use to tick VERY loudly... I could have used it as a white noise machine. I took it in and got it oiled, and it's diminished some, but it's still noticeable. I think it's pretty common

So... would anyone call it a tell? When we do reviews, we always emphasize on visuals, but not the sound it makes...

"Ahh.. this must be a genuine... so nicely made... wait! Why so loud? Must be a china movement!! Gotcha!"

If babola answers a question about Panerai or Panerai reps, you can take it to the bank. I learned "at his feet" (along with Enzo and BigBadBrad) for years when I first joined this forum.

Good to see ya, mate!

No, gen pams can tick loudly as well.

Yes and no. I've owned 4 gen 6497-based PAMs (002, 210, 114 and 000) and none have ticked as loudly as my reps. Although, the display back PAMs seem to be a little louder than the steel back models.
