I have a member who has offered me one in trade. It's from the "E" factory. I don't know much about these. Looks an awful lot like my 318. Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated !

PAM 111e - Opinions please

I wasn't looking to tear down this particular watch. I wanted opinions in general of the quality of rep from this factory across the board. That's why I didn't post pics. Here are two.

I think your 318 is a better quality rep than that particular 111. I am by no means a Panerai guru, but the font on the lettering looks off and the L SWISS L at the bottom is not that good. Since there are no movement pics I can't judge, but with the open caseback Pams the movements need to match up with the series; E Series watch needs an E Series movement...
And yes, it is very similar to your 318, so unless you are getting an awesome deal, or absolutely have to have this one I suggest you stick with your 318.
Please don't take this as a slam to the person wanting to trade - the 111 watch is nice, but IMO it's not as accurate as the current 005 and 318.

The PAM111E is a sausage dial and has an display case back. The "E" after the model number designates the production year and not the rep manufacturing company.

That being said, the newer PAM reps are better made in general and you are probably better off passing on this deal, unless the sausage dial and display case back are two options you want in a Panerai. Honestly, most people that own the PAM005/PAM318/PAM026/PAM288 are probably really spoiled and would not be overly impressed with some of the older Panerai rep offerings.
