Hi All,

I bought a Pam 111 from Ryan a while ago (see here.

I have an issue with it and I am not sure what to do, so I need the help/advice of the forum.

Ryan has very kindly agreed to repair/replace the watch.

However it will cost £60 to send it back to China and then there is the waiting game.

I thought about getting it serviced as it is running erratically (30 mins per day out...)

Can anyone recommend where I can get it serviced (UK pref) and a (very) rough cost? I am trying to weigh up if it is worth sending back vs. servicing (I imagine the latter).

Thanks.

Just get it serviced, or change the movement. A6497 are pretty cheap.
No point spending 60pounds to send it back.

Ya I would agree. Drop in a new movement. As Ryan if he can source you a new movement. Easy fix for any watchsmith

I sent a watch back to Sead for repair recently and it only cost about £11, so £60 sounds very steep!

If that is the price though, get a movement either from Ryan/another TD or get a sterile one from Ebay and have the bridges swapped over.

I'm based in the UK.

I have no idea about swapping, etc, so I would have to get someone to do it for me!

I think Sead is UK based, right? That may be why the postage is so cheap.

No, I sent it home to the Ganzhou, not sure if it was Sead's office in the Watch Centre or his watchsmith. The repair took a couple of weeks so I think the watch was away for about a month including postage time.

There are a few people on here you could get to swap the decorated parts on to a standard Asian 6497, which can be found on EBay in the UK for £30.

Good luck

£60? You only send watches back to china by normal registered airmail, NOT express. That's the safest for customs and what all the TDs want. It should cost about £10 from UK to China.

Ryan keeps telling me it needs to be via EMS as he needs a tracking number.

If it is £10 I will send it tomorrow! Have you used standard registered mail before?

As above, go to the post office and just ask for it to be posted by registered post, you get a tracking number you can email to the dealer. If you don't go mad with the bubble-wrap then it should be well under £15.

So I sent the package. That was fine, however Ryan still hasn't got it.

It was sent on 7th June. Is it normal to take that long?

Not normal but not unusual either, have you tried tracking it to see where it has got to? Sometimes the local post at the other end can take a while.

I'd give it at least another week before starting to worry

Just says it has arrived in Beijing as is being processed for delivery. Said that for a while though.
