Hello once again RWIers,
This is a quick review on the PAM 111 'V4' that I received from Chazingtime before the forums went down. I've had my eye on the piece for a while, and I've finally bitten the bullet.
While advertised as a 'V4', the watch that I received appears to be a mix of V4 and V3 parts as is apparently typical for PAM 111's coming out of the Noob factory.
I am very impressed by the quality. For the price, it certainly represents fantastic value. This is the first open case movement watch that I have owned, and it is wonderful to look at. On the forums, It's easy to get lost in macro shots and forget about what the watch might feel like as a whole on your wrist.
The tan leather strap that came with the watch isn't the best. It's quite stiff, almost plastic-y. It was also too big for my wrist, so I punched another hole into it.
The lume on this watch is the strongest that I have seen. It is very impressive, especially after walking inside after a sunny day. I especially love the deeper green colour that comes out in the dark.
Another thing that I love is the 'ticking' noise that the movement creates. It is very audible if you're close the watch, and I think it adds so much character to it. Reminds me of that scene in Dr Strange when Benedict Cumberbatch asks his fellow doctor to cover his watch during surgery.
Finally, I am a fan of Panerai's retro designs. It strikes me as just an awesome weekender watch to wear to the beach or a barbecue.
