Hi guys

Im about to buy my first watch a PAM 111 v3 and when funds are available have it fully modified by Marlin or one of the other experts.

Be very interesting to see if anybody has the comparison pictures to see exactly how close this rep is once modded to the actual gen.

Thanks

Also which strap is closest to its Gen counterpart.

I'd see if vac has any already modded in stock, may save you some time. The mods are movement based first of all inca block etc. but with the open case back there are still tells. I wouldn't even mod if if I were you. Just get he 111 and enjoy it for a while then decide if you want to mod it or get a new watch instead. Just my two cents but good luck

Hey Jay,

Welcom to RWI and a very nice idea for the beginning! The Marlin modded 111 is the closest thing to the gen (without using gen parts and going franken) as you can get. I bet this would be your first purchase and maybe your first PAM as well, so my advice:

you buy the noob 111v3 and save the money you have for another super rep. Even the noob is so close to gen, you can't tell unless you're an expert. NO ONE apart from the 0,01% of the world's population would be able to call you out with it, and most of those people again are experts in reps (RWI/RG/RWG etc...) and watchsmiths, so why bother fooling them? They are your friends! But its just my piece of advice....
However, if you really like your 111 and money is burning your pocket, give a shout to Marlin, he does an amazing job!

But then again, if you have money burning your pocket and want to get closer to gen, why not buy the gen 111? It's a relatively easy find. Go over on paneristi.com and pick one up tax free....
I'd have Marlin mod a PAM of an exclusive piece, like a 127/217 for example. That costs >10,000$ easily as a gen and is hard to find. But again my advice only...

On the straps: if you wanna get close to OEM, grab an OEM over on risti, you can regularly catch a nice gator around 200-250$. Just my advice again. 'LPV Bespoke Leather' (130-150$) and 'Peter Watchacc' (170-190$) does some amazing straps, but they are not OEM. OEM quality in terms of gators is amazing with Panerai. But check out our Supporting Vendors (Timebandit and Bakeka for example) and Trusted Strapmakers (lots of nice guys there) to get you a custom made, real PAM strap :)

I wrote much more than I wanted to, please do not take me as someone trying to tell you what to do, I just got a moment to type my ideas on the matter.

Very good advice fellas I will probably just get the PAM111 and just leave the modding and probably take your advice on modding something more rare later down the line.

Forget the 111. Its an open caseback and unless you drop a $1500 gen movement in it, you will never be satisfied. Noob makes some models that are crazy close to gen: 356, 297, 104, 88. And you dont have to mod them

The major flaw on the 005 is the dial. No rep comes close to the texture and filled in indices of the gen.

Trust me the noob 104/88/297/356/326 are about as good as they get. All closed casebacks. All have incredibly detailed casework and dials. All are superlumed. As nice as the KW 1950 auto models are i.e. 312/320/328/329, they allare flawed by the inhouse movement copy. I know because I have one. As nice as the noob Daylight 236/250/251 all are, the date wheel location is off.

Imho the worst thing Panerai did to the 111 was change it to a sandwich dial. Go back and look at the 111G. Its a helluva lot nicer watch than H series forward. They should have kept it sausage and just made a new model for the sandwich dial like they just did with the 510 8 days.

Great advice from our very own Paneristas !! Well, from an economical and first Pam buy, the latest PAM 111 with a simple INCABLOC mod would do. 99.9% of the population would never know. Good luck and hope you get a good one!

Hi cajunjay

Many wise advices here from members. Thanks you all

I agree completely with karesz

Buy your watch and then consider the mods if you need them

Anyway to get pics of mods you can consult the links included in PAM GUIDE for PAM 111. There are many examples

As you can see from above threads, there are, even in the best replicas, many things to be corrected if you are looking deeply

Good luck

In my parent's basement
I have a GEN 111 because it is fairly cheap compared to other Pam models that are like someone said >$10,000. I purchased my M series used for about $4500. I wouldn't advise spending big bucks to mod a 111 because it is a simple watch and no one can tell while it is on your wrist. The movement will be close but not the same as Gen. If I were you I would get a clone of a more expensive Pam model...
