Hi all,
In the most awkward of ways, like something Balki Bartokomous from "Perfect Strangers" would do, I shattered the crystal on my daily-wearer, a Pam 111. I thought it was just the crystal that needed to be replaced; but upon closer examination tonight, I jacked up the dial, too.
So I've been on the hunt for another 111, and came across a Pam 416 that I liked on Toro Bravo. Currently priced perfectly for a "daily beater," and about $50 less than his least expensive 111.
My rookie eyes can't tell -- does anyone know if the quasi/pseudo/slight "dome" crystal on the 111 the same shape as on the 416? Looks like it. While not truly "domed" like some truly vintage, old school timepieces, the 111 had that slight look that to me was particularly easy on the eyes, mild distortion not withstanding. Thanks for any advice!
Oh, and if anyone has any suggestions for something comparable to the Pam 111, don't hesitate to throw out a suggestion or two. I was also thinking of the 372 for its beautiful simplicity. I have a big enough wrist to pull of the 47" so we shall see....
