Long time lurker, first time poster. I always stop by because there seems to be a big Michgan contingent here [smilie=hello.gif] ... my home state as well.

I am over on RG most of the time but stop by here because you folks seem to have a different view of what is "right" and what is "wrong"with reps. I read posts here about polishing movements ... and individual gears ... hell, I struggled putting my first watch TOGETHER and all I had to do was assemble the pieces (another topic for another time I suppose). I just visualze myself in a room with springs and gears flying all over. So I am a little ovewhelmed and intimidated to post up  .

Anyway, feeling that MI brotherhood  , I wanted to post this here. I thought some may be interested in doing a similar project ... the results exceeded my expectations. This started out as a experiment with some left-over parts from another project, and a newfound friend who calls himself Rex450. The goal was to build a near perfect PAM 036, sans the Ti case. Don't beat me up too badly on the H series caseback ... I am currently looking for a more correct B series alternative that is not Ti  . This bead blasted SS case was made for me by Rex. It has a smooth, soft look, but all the edges are still sharp and crisp. I haven't been able to stop looking at it since it arrived yesterday. He tells me the finish "wears" very well and will darken over time.

First some overview shots:

Have a look up-close at the fine casework ... this finish still blows me away:

I had Rex blast an engraved buckle for me. Neither one of us knew how it would turn out or if the engraving would survive the blasting. I picked out the most deeply engraved buckle from my collection:

This got a nice swiss movement that used to reside in my PAM 172 (incorrect for that model .... but that has been fixed now too :D ). It already had a high cannon pin and was correct for the 036. My original was not:

This manages to look modern and vintage at the same time. I can't wait to give this baby some wrist time :)

Hope you all enjoy the pics!

Thanx, first the strap is a http://www.taikonaut-time.com destroyed vintage in chocolate truffle.

Second ... That is a good question :?: ... I never gave much thought to any real world value ... mostly just "parts" but I can tell you where they came from:

Case, Crown, and CG: Came from an old Yahoo! Auctions rep (well before I found the forums) that arrived DOA ... seller split. This is the watch I pirated the carbon fiber dial for my Franken I project from ... movement was junk (Chinese 6497 with the little stick-on logos that fall off and jam up the works) ... I filed and reshaped the CG myself. Initial cost $225 USD delivered

Dial and Hands: From a PAM 036 rep purchased from Super Mirrors. I used the Ti case, Ti CG, fatty Ti Crown, and Ti caseback for Franken I as well. Pitched the movement. Initial cost 175 USD delivered

Caseback: Purchased from a fellow geek. Cost 25 USD

Movement: Came in my Josh PAM172. It was incorrect for that model but I HAD to have Josh's case. That movement has since been replaced in my 172 with a correct E series swan neck ... and I was left with this swiss movement from Josh's. Cost, unsure how to determine but the upcharge for the swiss was 60 USD, so I guess that's it :p .

Cannon Pin: This movement from Josh already had the high one, however I had to swap in the high one from that PAM 036 above to the now 172 E series swannie ... didn't matter since I didn't have any immediate use for the movement.

Buckle: old buckle buckle laying in the bottom of my watch parts box ... maybe what ... 5 bucks?

The rest: I had Rex going on a couple of different projects at the time. I sent him the pieces already disassembled. I know I paid 65 for the blasting and 35 for him to regulate it, but didn't ask what part of my bill was for assembly.

Please do your own math ;) . Still needs lume.
