Long time lurker, first time poster. I always stop by because there seems to be a big Michgan contingent here [smilie=hello.gif] ... my home state as well.
I am over on RG most of the time but stop by here because you folks seem to have a different view of what is "right" and what is "wrong"with reps. I read posts here about polishing movements ... and individual gears ... hell, I struggled putting my first watch TOGETHER and all I had to do was assemble the pieces (another topic for another time I suppose). I just visualze myself in a room with springs and gears flying all over. So I am a little ovewhelmed and intimidated to post up .
Anyway, feeling that MI brotherhood  , I wanted to post this here. I thought some may be interested in doing a similar project ... the results exceeded my expectations. This started out as a experiment with some left-over parts from another project, and a newfound friend who calls himself Rex450. The goal was to build a near perfect PAM 036, sans the Ti case. Don't beat me up too badly on the H series caseback ... I am currently looking for a more correct B series alternative that is not Ti  . This bead blasted SS case was made for me by Rex. It has a smooth, soft look, but all the edges are still sharp and crisp. I haven't been able to stop looking at it since it arrived yesterday. He tells me the finish "wears" very well and will darken over time.
First some overview shots:
Have a look up-close at the fine casework ... this finish still blows me away:
I had Rex blast an engraved buckle for me. Neither one of us knew how it would turn out or if the engraving would survive the blasting. I picked out the most deeply engraved buckle from my collection:
This got a nice swiss movement that used to reside in my PAM 172 (incorrect for that model .... but that has been fixed now too ). It already had a high cannon pin and was correct for the 036. My original was not:
This manages to look modern and vintage at the same time. I can't wait to give this baby some wrist time
Hope you all enjoy the pics!
