Hi there, first time posting here. A bit nervous.

Just ordered my first rep, a PAM 029M from Mr Torro. I chose the rubber strap because I actually intend to put some miles on my watch. It will be my daily watch. I suspect that the PAM 351, white dial with croc stap will be next. I like that one for dressier occasions.

Anyway, enough rambling here. I would love to see some photos of more 029's. Also, any feedback on my choice here would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Got mine from toro too. I got the rubber strap with it but put it on an asso and changed the look. You'll love it either way.

Nice pics! I see you both have the Asso strap. Anyone out there has a darker band on their 029?

I have a 029, I believe it's the V1 and I really like it. I think it's versatile enough for everyday wear but with a nice leather strap it makes a nice dress watch too. Great choice my friend!

Mine's a V2. It is astoundingly perfect. Most beautiful watch I own, rep or gen. Looks good on the rep asso strap. Haven't decided what strap I'm going to finally end up putting on this one.

Ok, I did some digging to my above question.
I would still like to know where your straps came from --- but are they "Asso?"

However, how come these:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/replica-panerai-assolutamente-123598
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/rep-asso-strap-124958

Look sooo much different (darker) than these:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/pam-assolutamente-strap-126231
and the three posted in this thread....?!?!
I like the lighter brown color best.

Secondly, are these very stiff ??
I had a genuine Pam crocodile-skin leather strap that (at least to me) - was stiff as a board! I could hardly bend it, let alone buckle it, and therefore never wore it. It had no play whatsoever, or ability to bend. Maybe it was just me though?

Lastly, what does "Assolutamente" mean anyway ?

Thanks for helping

"Assolutamente" is Italian for "Absolutely"

There are several colors of rep assolutamente straps. Mine is the lighter one that came with the PAM029 from PureTime. The ones that most offer as accessories are the darker versions. The darker is closer to the current dark gen Assolutamente strap. I think the rep assolutamente straps are extemely nice and worth keeping, whereas the other rep straps are not. I have a couple of them. I find them quite good looking and very comfortable.

Call me crazy (and I might be), but after only wearing it once I decided I love this rep so much I'm going to sell mine and get it with the expensive Sellita movement. I just hope the new one is as perfect as the one I've got.

Thx for the reply....

I didn't know they made it with a Sellita movement!
Are you selling your Asso strap with the watch or separate ?

If your happy with yours I definitely wouldn't sell it for that mvmt . The 2824 is bulletproof and will give you years of use.

I think the general consensus around here about these movements is the same as yours. The 029 uses the 2836 movement, but same difference.

I have tried to do as much reading as possible on the "swiss" vs. "clone" movements, including the thread ALE started, and many others. Seems the only real consensus is on the problematic nature of the A7750 :)

I just figure that the Sellita movements are the "safest" option in my opinion. My opinion is exactly that an may not be worth much :) The cost of entry is high though.

I already have a problem with a new A6497 movement, which are supposed to be "bulletproof" as well. Just luck of the draw. Gen's aren't immune to problems either, I had the crown fall off my gen Omega 300M diver after a few days! (but since then it has given me a decade of trouble-free use and is WAY overdue for service and refinishing!)

I have not found the rep asso straps to be stiff. They are perfectly comfortable.

Some alligator and crocodile straps can be quite stiff, that is a nature of the hide.
