Looking to snag one of these and just saw they offer them in both Asian and Swiss 25J movements. So my question is what's the difference besides the $70 price increase for the Swiss?

Hi clk
If you bought the Asian clone you are almost sure you will receive an Asian clone mvmt. Clone but new.
If you bought the "Swiss" you cannot assure what you wil receive it. If you receive a real Swiss and new (no refurbished) you will make a good deal for 70$. But that is impossible to know. It is a little lotery.
Read about that:

I'have just bought a PAM 029 and I have taken the risk buying a "Swiss" and paying the difference. I know that perhaps is a better purchase the Asian but I will try. Crossing fingers

The SWISS eta on the 029M IS NEW SWISS eta that is unused:)

I got pictures of the movement to be sure it is swiss eta:)

The only chineese in this movement is TWO gears for the GMT module ( I have taking it apart to see how it looked like:) )

For me it is an easy choise to buy the swiss eta version as this one of the very few reps that do NOT need any modding at all:)

So if You like this pam buy it with SWISS eta You will not be dissapointed

Is there a visible difference in the way the second hand sweeps between the two?

Nope and even if there was with the tiny subseconds hand you can't tell anyway.

I am noticing there are quite a few people with the Asian ETA in the 029 with a hanging seconds hand. Perhaps Swiss is the only option at this point

What do you mean with "hanging" seconds hand?
On mine it rubbed a little with the minute hand on certain spots so had to disassemble the movement and dial from the case and have it corrected by myself.

Cheers !!
