PAM 026k Noob - No Movement after full wind

Just got my first Panerai rep yesterday from Puretime, the PAM 026k Noob edition, not my first rep overall though. This thing is a beauty from the look. So I wound it up, 12 to 6, gave it a few rotations (not too many) just to get the second hand moving on the subdial and put it on my wrist... It worked for about 1-2 hours then stopped completely. I thought it was because I hadn't wound it enough at first. So I wound it again completely (12 to 6) until I'm getting pretty good resistance and can't wind it further. Still no movement and hasn't moved since yesterday. I tried to let it sit over night thinking it might "unwind" somehow but when I tried to wind it this morning, it was still at the full wind resistance that it was at last night.

So I have a beauty PAM 026k Noob w/ no movement. I'm bummed.

I don't know what to do with it now. Whether to try to tinker with it myself, take it to a watch smith, or send it back. I emailed Puretime, still awaiting a reply.

Any suggestions/solutions?

Bad luck, either take it to a local watchsmith or return it to Angus. I would do the first, I think it's a small issue.

Just took it to 2 watch repair shops per your advice, at one the "watch maker" was away till Monday. The other told me they would have to send it to their "watch maker" and that it would cost me about $150 because of the movement. :lolcina:

Just pop the case back, its something supper simple I bet. Just open her up and take a look if you know what you doing pull the movement out and see if anything is out of place, if your not able to pull it out try just giving the balance a little push. Using a ball of ducked tape wadded up so the sticky side down.

Never did it before, so I wouldn't know what to do if I opened it up. Thanks for the advice though, I'll take it to a watch smith tomorrow and see if they can repair the damages. Hopefully he doesn't try to rip me off to much like some of the other shops. I'm rather annoyed that I buy a new watch with instant problems. But I guess it is the nature of the business....

Happened once to me: one of the screws mounting the movement to the case was loose and went under the seconds hand gear blocking everything. It was my first attempt do disassemble 6497 but it was easy. Just unwind the watch (release all the tension of the spring) and remove and check bridge after the bridge to find that screw (if it is missing).

If you are in the US, consider send it to Katt. He should be help with very reasonable cost.

I have decided I would like to second this watch back to Puretime. After 2 weeks of hassle since I received the watch with no working movement, I have gone to 4 watch repair shops, 2 quoted me $150 to repair it (a $300 watch), 1 took a look at it and said he couldn't fix it since the winding mechanism is broken and he can't find the part for it here in the USA. And fourth one's watch repair shops, the watch maker was never at the shop the 2 times I visited. I also contacted Katt and he said he could try to fix it. But I feel like I should get a replacement after all the hassle.

Does Puretime generally replace the watch or try to fix it and send it back in these type of instances? I emailed them yesterday, still no response. Hopefully I can get this resolved... The watch is good looking, but its embarrassing and frustrating to know you have a good looking watch with broken movement... Especially if it was sent new like this..

Out of curiosity, has other PAM 026k owners experience this before? would be interesting to see if this is a one off or something that future buyers should take not off with this movement.

You will need to pay the shipment to China...Puretome must repair the watch... and return. It wil take more two months and a half and no sure it will go right.
Ask Katt for an estimate of the repairing cost, and decide after that.

I also received a 026k Noob from puretime. It also worked for a few hours then stopped. Even a few wacks on my palm didn't start it. Opened the case back with blu tack. Couldn't see anything obviously wrong. Poked around a bit. But watch didn't start. Ended up sending it back to puretime. They have emailed me to say its been fixed and regulated. They have run it for 2 days and will continue to run for another few days before sending it back to me. Looking forward to getting this back as its a great looking watch.
