I've just returned from a local dealer and must say im found of the new 01537, the power reserve function is incredible, as is the hand color on the sub dial. Anyone else agree? I've looked high and low for a rep of this model, but to no avail sadly. A 42mm with such detail in the Panerai brand is quite rare itself.

Its a cool piece for sure. I'm not sure if I'd hold out hope for a rep anytime soon, but at a ~$7k price point for used, its not insanely expensive. I'd plunk this watch in the "worth buying gen" box as the diameter and thickness will be tough to match by today's outputs. Maybe hold out for a non-Due 537 rep in the nearer future??

I almost did consider purchasing today, sadly my budget wasn't allowing nor did they offer in house financing. I'm not quite sure what you mean by non-due, but id be pleased by a 537 model as well, from what I see it's the same as the 1537 minus the blue hand on the sub dial, though my eye is not the best when it comes to Panerai model differences.

The Due model (Italian for "two," pronounced: "doo-aye") is the "next generation" Luminor case which is significantly thinner than the 1950 or Bettarini case styles. The thinness creates issues on the rep side, but the 1950-cased 537 could be a reppable model if the factories were willing to chase that amount of dial complexity on a PAM ...

Now I've got it. Strange, I found a 535 model on a TD's site earlier, but the case diameter falls within a 44mm x 17mm, would that be considered part of the Bettarini case styles your referring to?

It may be an unupdated listing. Here's a TD link for the PAM535 which correctly states 42mm.

The PAM535 uses the Luminor 1950s case, not the Luminor Bettarini case. You can see it from the side view. The 1950s case uses a cushion shape that is curved from where the lugs protrude out of the case. The Bettarini case is a blocky design where the cuts on the case are vertical.
Here's a Bettarini cased PAM, the PAM111.

.

Here's the Due being compared to the PAM312 and PAM1312, all 1950s case design.
