I purchased a confirmed V4 Panerai 005 from Toro the other week. It arrived today along with a DSSD (which is perfect).

In the QC photos I was sent the lume looked a bit green but I put this down to camera and passed the photos. The watch arrived today DOA. Nobodys fault and Toro has quite happily asked me to return it for repair.

Having seen the watch in the flesh I feel like the lume is completely wrong. In darkness the watch has the correct lume colour, but during the day in bright sunshine, the lume is green also. I've looked at photos of GEN 005s and other rep makers. But this 005 I have in my hands feels the wrong colour.

Toro has said that is should be an off white / cream colour and that the watch I have there is no problem with the colour - but is it really ok? Am I going colour blind and seeing green incorrectly?

Either way it's going back for repair, just trying to establish if I need to ask for a different watch or have this one repaired.

Thank you!

As.you can see.many different factors have to be evaluated when evaluating colors in a pic. Both watches above are gen, but lume color differs noticeably.

Also, rep super-lume is notoriously different than gen lume as it easily gets greener as soon as it absorbs light.

Tbh difference with your watch does not appear to be a lot. In any case if you are bothered by it you should choose another watch. Then you would prolly realize that, for example rep tobacco dials have slightly different colora as well, gold hands often don't match exactly the color on gen (for example noob 390 super rep hands are too.similar to rose gold compared with gen hands), inscriptions on many PAMs are either slightly too white or slightly too dark, and so on.
We need to live with such things, it's impossible to get a perfect color match in anything rep.
That's why people build frankens :)

I see in your first photo the lume is green and in the second it is creamy!! The GEN 005 I tried on in store was creamy and not green I guess that is just where my head is at right now and thats what I expected to get when I purchased the watch.

Again, this is creamy and not as green as my 005 dial I have now.

This looks great! Is this an aftermarket dial?

No mate! It's a gen OEM dial, probably H or I-series. As kilo said, during the time the color lume changed a bit. White, white-off, creamy, greenish...

I have ordered a v4 Noob 005 so once it comes in I will be sure to investigate it but far as I'm concerned, the gen dials have had color differences throughout the years. But your watch looks great mate. I will surely send you a few pictures for comparison purpose once it comes in ;)

Yes please do post some pictures of the V4 005 once you get it in your hands, would love to have a closer look at it :) Currently still on the fence due to the lume application and the transition from V3 to V4 case.

Seriously this watch is 99% perfect .....to me. 005 Noob is insane. That Dial and Letter Spacing is spot on. Lume is near perfect and color is 99.8% right for this model. Enjoy the shit out pf it. -Cheers

Couldn't have said it myself. Fraction and I mean fraction of the cost of a gen, you get a %99.8 perfect watch. I think it's meant to be enjoyed at that price rather than getting it stuck in your head given for the price of that, you can only get a decent strap or 2 :)

Even my 111 v3 was great enough but now with updated case-set dial, it's on another level, maybe just the canon pinon & crown guard & crown if one is too anal, rest is all good!

Well yeah, I know. I'm not complaining about the product here. I'm asking if the Lume on the V4 is a bit too green when uncharged. Thats it. Other than the green lume I haven't and will not complain about this watch because its amazing.
