PAM 005 Mods?

I have always said I'll never buy a GEN Panerai because of how close to GEN the REPs are, but with the current prices for 2nd hand pieces a 005 can be had for roughly $5,000 USD.
Now the only thing that really bothers me on my 005 is the ticking noise from the movement which gets super annoying. I know this can be fixed, I can buy a Gen strap but what else is there to do?
If I can spend $1k instead of $5k to get the perfect PAM 005, then sign me up.
I am not looking for 2xAR even it looks amazing, but I just want to get the watch as close to gen as possible.
Any modding tips besides silencing the movement and switching the strap?
It has to be reasonable and should not exceed $1k

PS: If anyone can tell me if it's the NOOB or KW version, even better

I would not bother any mods on a 005. But if you really want, maybe a gen dial and CG assembly. Also for the movement I think even the gen watch with 6497 is loud.
For strap get those aftermarket ones from makers like Ted Su or Gunny, IMO they are looking better than OEM straps.

I have to agree. Just spoke with a 'Panerista' who will give me a GEN case + crystal, so we'll swap everything in the gen case and polish the pin.
Strap is already changed. Pic coming shortly.

I really prefer the 005 over the 111. I think the sausage dial pops on these!

I got one recently with a gen crown and had it waterproofed. Love it!

I agree! Got an entire gen case, crown, crown guard, crystal.. Will swap the movement, dial, hands as soon as I can and it'll be the perfect PAM for me.

If you have access to the gen case set I would suggest you invest in a nice eta 6497-2 with H3 CP that way you get a true gen spec watch.
Keep us posted and share picture when it's finished!

A local modder / forum member helped me to source them. Will post pictures once I have them.
