Hi Buddy's

I've just ordered a Panerai PAM 005 Logo by HWF 'cause it's now the only one available. (Noob is out, XF nowhere to be found)
I've read the thread and apart from some imperfections on the case , but I've not read anything about the dial.
Does it have the same problem as 111 & 177 with the "fatty" dial (indexes and fat numbers) or is it acceptable in this case.....?
In the first description I found this post:

But if it had the dial like 177/111 I would be in the same situation as 177.
Let me know.
Thank you so much

This is not so easy to answer. Yes, HWF numbers and markers are a little bit too thick. But the Gen 005 has also thicker numbers and markers than other models. So in the end this imo a minor flaw, you can´t see at first sight. But in the end thats a question of personal preferences. If you are a nitpicker, who is not happy with a Rep that has flaws only to be seen in macro-perspective, then you probably will not be happy with this model. On the other hand this imo one of best models, that is currently produced. Of course Noob and Hfac 005s are better ... but you only get them on M2M if you are a lucks man with fast fingers ;-)

Thank you for the quick and accurate reply @JayBee0815
This small flaw is absolutely acceptable , I don't pretend it is the same as the gen , I don't believe in fairy tales..... :D
The important thing for me is that it is not visible like the classic models with Sandwich Dial such as the PAM177 or the PAM111 by HWF.

Then I'll wear it quietly.

Gen 005 Dial vs HWF 005 Dial :

I found these pics of a gen dial for the PAM005 ( Price 700,00 Euro). At first glance I don't see much difference between the two dials. Maybe because I don't have expert eyes to understand the difference. In both I see the indexes and quite "fatty" numbers in all 2 dials......
I await your opinion so that you can tell me whether I am wrong or right... :)

Rep-Rule Number One: If you don´t see a difference, it doesn´t matter if there is a difference ;-)
Btw.: I don´t see a difference either.

I thank you from my heart , 'cause in my opinion they are really very similar , apart from the color of the indexes.
Then I bought this Buckle Limited Ed. And I see it perfect on a historic model like the PAM 005.
Thanks again for your very quick reply.

I agree that the markers are too thick. Is this a minor flaw? Who cares, but I consider it obvious. Was there a different thickness of the indices on gen PAM005 - yes, but you should compare the dials of the same series. For the series and years for which PAM005 HWF was made - the sausage is much thinner on GEN, and given that it should have a recess and a slightly different texture, in my opinion, the difference between the dials is quite obvious. However, as noted above, this is the only option, so you should either take or refuse this model.

I can only agree with you @KOT1917 , I'm very sorry that the Noob it's falling down... :(
But my speech was aimed at a speech of recognizability on the wrist. In the various years and serial numbers the dials have changed , and this for 99% of the maisons. But once I wear the 005 I don't think anyone will come to see the caseback and the serial number. My question was this. It could very well be a watch that is 9/10 years old....
So I take the liberty of asking you , if I am allowed , as an "atheist" on the Panerai world : "On my wrist , could someone say that it is a rep...?", or is it just a question of years of production....?
My question was simply this. If you told me that anyone can see it like a bad rep , then I would reject the watch and go to VSF models , which unfortunately I don't like as they are self-winding , for myself Officine Panerai here's only manual winding. I hope I have explained why I speak and write really bad English.... 😌
Noob is dead , and another Factory don't building a manual winding models (Marina 44) decents....😯😪

If you don’t want the watch to post wrist pic on instagram, don’t worry…no one will call you out just looking at your wrist from one meter!

@ComNero , I don’t have Instagram :)
I’m so sorry ‘cause with H or Noob Factory theren’t this dial or another probs. All another watches don’t have a very simple dial like Panerai , so all flaw it’s very visible. I’m in RWI from 2012 and I know very well that it’s a rep and it’s impossible have a 1:1 gen , is the first rule of this game. I’m comeback here from 4/5 years cause I had probs and I’ve found more or less 2000 new watches. I’m sorry if I ask questions too simple for Us , but latest Panerai seen by myself like “NEW” is the Noob of 2019.
I apologize.

@KOT1917 @ComNero

Eventually I decided to contact the TD and change my order (made yesterday) and buy the PAM 632 HWF. I've read some posts and it would seem better than the classic 005 HWF. The only thing I noticed are the hands of the watch , which are slightly golden compared to the gen. As soon as I've the watch I will take it to do a gold plating on the hands to make it better. Sure , this one also features some flaws , but in my opinion minor on the dial..... Good choise....?

You must loose a lot of sleep when you decide to buy a new watch.
Yep 😂
I’ve seen many many models available , well , I’m a very precise guy… This in family , work and life. Now I think that my choose it’s right.
I’ve also wrote to my friend watchmaker about the gold wrapping of the hands , ‘cause not shining like the gen hands.
It’s not important if the watch will be a rep or a gen , this is me. I bored the seller when I buy a gen in a shop , 😅 , and before choose a watch I wanna be sure reading all opinions by Panny Guru.
Thanx for all buddy’s , now I wait a reply by @KOT1917 and other members about my choose. ☺️☺️😉😉

You are going down a rabbit hole, I can assure that. The 632 is a good pick, be sure to post pics when it arrives!

@papabear244 , I really like the Alice in Wonderland story. As soon as 632 arrives , I will disassemble all the hands and have them plated in gold.
The 632 of the HWF has very faded hands. This is the first necessary work. As for the thickness I can not do anything , I think. I will definitely post all the pics..... :)

Great post mate.
I can really feel how you struggle.
I used to care a lot too.

Then I realised that the watches I liked to use wasn't always the most gen-like ones.
And, that I missed out on many nice models while waiting for a 'perfect' v2 that never came.

So, in the end it is what you love to wear that matters.

Then again, this is why I ended up modding - trying to better the ones I like to wear!

I think a lot of us can relate to your search for the holy grail.
