A new ZF 372 with p.3000 clone movement just showed up and it has stopped randomly two or three times. I when I release the crown it starts back up again. It seems to have something to do with the crowns rotational position when I close the CG. It has been now running ok for half an hour. What do you guys think? Does this warrant sending it back?

Also side note: when setting the time the crown has a slight grinding feeling that is on and off as you rotate the hands around the dial.

One other question. Do you have to put the crown back to position one before closing the CG? Maybe this is the cause?

Can you post a CB pic? I'm assuming you have an SC movement and not a decorated 6497.

I have a feeling it was stopping because I closed the CG without putting the crown back to first position. Perhaps the time changing mechanism was still half engaged and when the play ran out the movement stopped. Its been running for 10 hours now with no problems and at +15sec

That could be. the crown guard tends push the crown in crooked at first, it just might be tight and not going back to position 1 as you stated. With a full wind that movement will last 3-4 days.

I figured it out. If you move hands backwards it causes the balance to stop. If you set the time forward Or push in the crown it starts running again.

Just a thought: with Rep movement, you have to be very careful with everything. I will not snap the CG back without repositioning the crown even with the gen. It is just way too dangerous to break something.
