Overcharging for reps on auction sites a scam?

I have seen several reps on ioffer, like Ultimate Santos XL's Panerai's and Noobmariners selling for $750+. The seller usually describes the item as a rep and quality of it, so I guess its up to the buyer to decide if its worth it. Is this a scam, or just honest markup value of local sellers taking a risk to sell reps?

It is a scam, probably because iOffer doesn't have the same stringent selling rules that eBay does, so people can more easily take advantage of others. Rep and scam postings on the 'Bay are more often than not removed within 24 hours. I have yet to read a single good review about buying on iOffer.

It's not a scam if the seller delivers as advertised.
It IS, however, a rip-off. The two are not the same.

idealwatches are scammers because they take your money and don't send you what you ordered (if you get anything at all)... plus they overcharge. So I guess they're scammers and a rip off...

Roger summed it up perfectly.

Its just another reason why rwi is a great place. We know the "real" market value here.

Its just unfortunate for those who have not found this place yet.

So is selling a $130 noobmariner ETA clone for $800 on ioffer ok if the buyer knows what he is getting, he is satisfied with his purchase and you make money. Who dictates the value of a replica watch? Its worth as much as someone will pay, but it could be worth nothing to someone else. Just because we know the "real" price gives us an inside aspect. Our "real" price is probably grossly inflated as well. So where is the line?

I wouldn't say our prices aren't that grossly inflated... that noobmariner probably hits 5 middlemen till it gets to your hands. The dealer we buy it from probably makes $15 in profit on that watch and that's being generous.

Our prices are definitely inflated. But here we have multiple dealers and lots of reviews and very expert opinions, so we can decide the value and choose for ourselves.

I have a business competitor who offers the same product and service as do I, but at nearly twice the price. If he explains what the customer can expect, and the customer agrees to the price (because he didn't ship around), and the company delivers as promised at the price they quoted, then no one was scammed.
I believe the customer was ripped-off, but the customer is happy because they got what they expected at a price they were willing to pay.
This is no different.

Rep pricing from our dealers does have some system to it. $140 and below gets you an A21J... $200+ is an ETA clone and $290+ may get you a Swiss.

You would be surprised that in GZ there are definitely true market value prices. Its a business just like anything else.
