I have been a fan of my Mako 2 for about a year now. It is truly the most worn watch I own.
I recently purchased the Pepsi bezel Mako 1 and thought I'd do a quick side-by-side. WARNING: My photography skills SUCK!!
Both run Orient's very high quality in-house automatic 20J movement. Day and Date in both English and Spanish.
SIZE: Mako 1 is 42mm w/o crown or cg. Mako 2 is 45mm w/o crown or cg. The Mako 2 looks more substantial despite the relatively small size difference. I prefer the Mako 2.
PUSHERS: Pushers are for quick day change. The Mako 1 has a much more protruded pusher with a screw lock. The Mako 2 has a much more subtle pusher but without a screw down lock. Overall I prefer the Mako 2.
DIAL: Both these models appear to have the same dial color and finish. However, due to the larger surface area, the Mako 2 dial has a much more pronounced sunray effect. It is truly stunning in the light.
NOTE: I SWEAR they looked clean when I took the pics.
