Ordering Advice for watch w/ known issues

Hello fellow collectors,

For my 3rd PAM, I'm in need of a silver RAD. Love the handwind 183 and 380, but really love the best-of-breed reps, so waiting on revisions.

Looking at the 388. My question is: Can you ask a dealer to check on the lug screws or find one that isn't jacked up BEFORE they send it? Do you ask your fav. dealer for help on this? Do you order from KV and then keep returning them?

How do you all order a watch with that kind of crap shoot, knowing you might not be able to change the strap, or worse, not be able to use the watch after you attempt to change strap? Is there any way to mitigate this risk, or does it just come down to luck? Did version 2 address the bar/case issues, or is that just BS?

For all of the "this is the most ultimate rep" hot air that blows around these things...wouldn't it be nice if they actually held up a little better? It's like a Ferrari but often the wheels fall off, or if you try to change the tire you may never be able to drive it again.

Thanks in advance...I'm sure I'm not the only one having trouble hitting the ORDER NOW button.

Even with the best and more perfrect and expensive rep you have a risk of things failing.
It is a matter of luck?.. Maybe. But usually we get solutions and we will finish being happy with some distress.
That is due because reps have not a rigorous Quality Control due to their price.
If you like no fails you would need going to gen, you could get fails but you will be covered by an effective guarantee.

That said it seems that KW lug screws issues in V1 have been fixed in V2.

You can ask dealer for a control but you will not get it, at least with a solid guarantee

BTW: PAM 388 is one of the best SS polished Radiomirs ever made (if not the best one)

I agree with ALE, the 388 is the most handsome looking Rads in SS!

Also, there's a recent thread about the 346 here that showcased the fixes to the lug, and V2 has the same fixes.

And to add on, you might have better luck in a tighter QC if you and your TD have the right "chemistry". Good luck!
