Hey guys (and gals of course),

First off, Happy New Year to all.....

I'm hoping some members can chime in on some options to get a PVD'ed 217 PAM.

I'm looking for something nice but not really anal about it being an "Ultimate" or "Totally Moded" PAM.

As of now, the only option I have in mind is asking DSN to PVD one of his 217's for me, but a) I dont even know for certain if DSN can do a PVD job, b) If he can, how long would it take, and c) How much would that end up costing me.

So looking for other options if available; hell I'd even be happy if I could get one of Trevor's $100 217 PVD'ed, but mainly just looking for some pocket friendly solutions without a lot of production time involved.

Having said all that, If DSN is the only option I'd still go for it, but would love to hear from someone that has gone through this with him before to get a sense of timing, quality and cost.

Thanks all.
Cheers,

Davidsen already offers PVD MM20 reps, here is a pic of a destro MM20 PVD that I had him make for me:

It shouldn't be too tough for him to use a 217 dial instead of the destro MM20 dial. I wouldn't think lead time would be any longer than any watch from him.

Good luck!

It was a couple of years ago that I ordered that watch. I think I paid ~$400 for it. Not bad considering PVD+Swiss 6497+Sapphire.

You could save yourself $50 or so by going with the Asian 6497. Up to you. Davidsen's most recent ad was from Aug, 2006 and is $380 shipped.

Thanks again Hooligan,

Any other sources that would just PVD any given watch?, cost?, time?, etc.

I'm gonna email and ask DSN to get the ball rolling, but would love to hear of other options, if any.

Cheers,

RBJ (Joe) offers PVD'ing service. I think it's ~$150 to have all the case parts PVD'd by Joe's source. I don't know how long it would take, though.

I think Jack at IWW (http://www.angelfire.com/blues/andcamey ... tpage.html) does PVD, also. Again, I have no idea how long, but it looks like IWW charges about $600 for PVD. Ouch. While Jack does outstanding work, and the color of the PVD coating appears to be VERY close to OEM Panerai PVD, that price puts it out of the ballpark for a $300 watch, IMO.

Now when I get a gen PAM000 or PAM005 and want to get THAT PVD'd, I'll either send it to Jack or Elliot to have it done.
