Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a 114300 but I'm currently torn between a GMF with 2824 or an ARF with 3132. I know that the ARF rep is generally considered to be superior but at the same time I know that the movement isn't too great and will need to be serviced. Unfortunately ARF does not make any 114300 with 2824s to my knowledge so I'm left to make a difficult choice.
Is the 2824 movement significantly more reliable than the 3132? If I were to go with the GMF 2824 will I need to have it quickly serviced?
All feedback is appreciated. Thank you :)

In general every movement should be serviced to extend the lifespan of it, because they often come dirty and poorly oiled from the factories. This does not apply only to one factory or one movement. On terms of reliability, when serviced id said that the 2824 wins but only by a small percentage, given that, if you are planning on getting it serviced id still go with 3132 because i think it looks better and is a bit heavier which gives a slightly better feeling to the watch, but thats just personal preference.
Without service its just about the same in my opinion, can be a hit or miss on both (or any movement) :)

The SH movements have known power reserve issues often requiring replacement of the autowind reversing wheels at minimum. It's not uncommon for people to replace the entire autowind device including rotor, with gen parts.

I prefer ETA clone movements where they are available. Cheap, reliable, easy to find parts, easy to work on, able to upgrade to full gen Swiss movement if desired.

The BP OP's are perfectly acceptable reps IMO. This one is coming up on a year old and never had the caseback off. While servicing a rep movement is always good advice, sometimes you can't get to them all right away if you have a larger collection. I have some ETA clones 3 years old in this category, still running well.

I'd go with the 2824 clone myself. If you need parts for a 3132 you may be SOL. You can always deal with the 2824 fairly easily.
