Omega SMP300 - Asian a2824 movt - crown won’t screw down

Hi folks,
Wondering if anyone more knowledgeable than me could share a few nuggets of information on how I could go about solving a problem with my first and only (currently) rep watch.
As stated, the crown does not screw down on my ~2015 era SMP300 (no wave dial), made by KMF, sourced from Geektime, made it's way to me via this forum.
The movement, I'm told is an asian a2824.
The crown doesn't screw down, it pings back up after one pushes it down.
Can I replace just the head of the crown? Attaching it to the existing crown stem? Or do I need to find out what kind of crown stem I have, (looks like there are a million different kinds) and order one, cut it down to size and fit it to the crown?
I ask because I cannot see any way to detach the stem from the crown.

You would have to figure out what's stripped, the crown or the tube or both.

This is no easy task, specially for the age of your watch to find a tube and crown that would match the case you have.

Best you can do is have someone shorten the stem enough to make the crown sit flush against the case (making it look like the crown is screwed).

This would be a compromise since you probably would lose any bet against water. I would have the gaskets, at a minimum, lubricated.

Thanks @mclarendude for taking the time to reply and sharing a great workaround.
I cut the stem (with a half decent kitchen knife) but not before taking measurements so I can source a new one along with a new crown.
Fav watch is now back on the wrist and, while I don't think the crown tube looks replaceable, I can certainly take a gamble replacing the crown and stem to see if this fixes it!
