I just recently purchased a omega seamaster on ebay and am having second thoughts about its authenticity.

Here is the auction, http://www.ebay.com/itm/11081943109...31093&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1

Let me explain some of the issues. I took the watch to be resized at a jewelry store and the pins essentially swapped when they were being removed and one of the pins was already falling out. Second item is that the bezel on the watch is incredibly faded however the rest of the watch seems to be undamaged. I wore it for about a day and it seemed to scuff a lot easier than previous omegas I have worn. If you need more pictures let me know.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new piece.
It's always a good idea to do your research prior to purchase. The listing says the seller offers a 3 day money back refund. Maybe you should take it in for appraisal. I can't say much about the seemingly aged insert, why the pins are falling out or why it seems to scratch easier.... I'm no expert but I'd say it's a gen based not only on the placement of the HEV but on the angle of it. Some higher quality, more acurrate Omega reps have the HEV placement correct but very few (if any) I seen, heard about or read about have the angle correct.

NOTE: comming to a rep Forum with questions regarding a gens authenticity says alot about the Forum. You have come to the right place.
Have fun and enjoy the new hobby. Again, I'm by no means an expert but it looks quite genuine to me.

This baby is gen...

The watch is obviously really old. It was overhauled so the stainless will look brand new. Unfortunately with aluminum inserts, you cant repair or buff them. Your only solution would be to replace the whole bezel.

Re. the pins, theres little cylinders that sit in the links. You must of been missing some of these cylinders for the pin to fall out on its own. The cylinders are what create that friction fit between the links and pins...

I have that same bracelet on my Seamaster GMT. It will get thousands of tiny scratches over time. It's just the way it goes. When you take in it for a service, they will polish it and it will look like new again.

I had an AD not put back in the collars on one of my gen Omegas. Now I always do my own sizing

I appreciate all the help guys. The reassurance is great. I have reordered some new pins and cylinders for the bracelet. As far as the bezel goes, I enjoy the color for now but will be replacing it with due time.
