Omega rep leather strap mod

I couldn't find a strap discussion area, it seems to just be vendor and sales areas.

I have this 20mm rep strap I want to re stitch with orange thread. The problem is that I don't understand how this is stitched. It's black stitch in front but white in back. Any advice or insight?

it was probably stitched white then they dyed the whole front side black.. including stitching.

Ahhh, I hope it's that simple. Is that a common practice? I guess if the thread is just dyed afterwards, it definitely isn't waxed then.
