Hi,
Please can someone explain what 'bph' stands for? For example "Asian 7750 Automatic movement, 21600bph Cut out design Rotor as per genuine, Functional Regulator..." (Pam386)
I see some are 28000bph'ish?
Many thanks
Alec

BPH stands for beats per hour.

This is the number of times that the balance wheel rotates within a 60 minute period.

A 21600bph watch would have 6 beats per second.

A 28,800 watch would have 8 beats per second.

:)

Sooooo, the higher the beat time... the smoother the movement?

To complete the math story:

28,800 beats/hour ÷ 60 minutes/hour = 480 beats/minute

480 beats/minute ÷ 60 seconds/minute = 8 beats/second

versus

21,600 beats/hour ÷ 60 minutes/hour = 360 beats/minute

360 beats/minute ÷ 60 seconds/minute = 6 beats/second
