I have been reading about sometimes the watches need oil or servicing for them to run well.

My question is: If I order a watch from someone like Toro or Trevor will it be oiled and tested for accuracy and run better than if I order a watch from someplace like PureTime?

Nope. They all come from the same factories in the exact same way. It's luck of the draw.

If you order from someone like Sead, he actually does a bit of regulating to the movements and seals the gaskets for water resistance. I've never dealt with him, but I've heard good things.

Not unless Toro or Trevor have started making watches:picard:

ok, good to know, I saw some QC pics of a watch on a machine (MTG 4000A), thought that machine was testing the accuracy and beat.

It was testing it, but they're not going to regulate it at all to make it better. I've seen QC pics where the accuracy was at -45sec a day, which is huge.

I know Puretime does the QC pics with the machine testing the accuracy, so you can reject a watch based on bad accuracy. I've never seen Toro provide that test in my purchases with him, and I've never dealt with Trevor. None of them will do anything with the watch (like oiling or service) except for Sead doing the regulating, but that's a very minor form of service.

If you are willing to expend some more money I would have it serviced and waterproofed, you may expend about $120 more but your watch would be running smoothly. As far as we can tell no TD would have their watches serviced, I have seen movements with fingerprints, dust and whatnot. The only ones I would trust having a clean movement is BK and TC.
