Couple quick shots. Anyone who has a rep asso should immediately grab grape seed oil or olive oil and get to work o. Their strap. Looks and feels so mic better.

Nope. I just poured a small amt of oil in the bottles cap and would dip my finger in slightly, then rub it into the strap until it was entirely coated. Just applied one decent coat. Don't need to use sparingly but don't dump the oil on either. Good luck!

Very nice. I used baseball glove oil with great results after reading another members post showing his results.

Thanks for posting.

Thx guys! No waterproofing. Not worth the trouble IMHO. I like the vintage used look anyways, the more wear the better!

The oil did not stain the thread? I'm not sure what color rapeseed oil is, but olive oil is yellowish green (well most are) right?

That's extra virgin olive oil. Get the regular non-virgin ones. Those are almost colorless.

So does glove oil look the same as the above pictures? Olive oil is not as good for leather

@ jackp - I think it looks just as good, but does have to be reapplied ever so often. I have some Obenauf's LP on the way for comparison. I will try to snap a few photos for you this weekend, if I can remember.

Thanks. I would like to see the result. My brother in law is in the leather and shoe repair business so I will ask his opinion as well

Here are a couple if quick shots. It has probably been a couple of months since I last oiled the strap. When you first oil it, the strap will be darker but will lighten some over time.

I also took some shot with the flash on, but those shots made the strap looker darker than it does in real life.

DO NOT use animal or vegetable oil of any kind on your leather!
It will (chemically) change over time and weaken the leather, stiffen, smell etc. Use only chemically neutral mineral oil like white vaseline, that will keep its properties for decades.

Trust me - I know:)
