My two best reps are my Davidsen 112H and 210H- Totally gen-like, I almost have to do a double take to make sure it's NOT one of my gens.

Now he comes out with the long awaited 088, 104, 229, 164 etc.

GHASTLY.

Wrong hands on the 88

Crown guards and crowns cheapo rep junk.

Lume bright green.

Back engraving looks deep and gen like but the rest looks off.

Just horrible... With no swan neck movements around I can't imagine buying anything form him these days... a shame.

I'm not a fan of any of those models, regardless, so it really doesn't matter to me.

What I *am* looking forward to is the new A-D series Historic reps that DSN is supposed to be working on...

I have no hands on Dsn experience, but all I've seen about them on the various rep sites, you either love them or hate them...IMNSFHO, for the prices he asks, his work should be CONSISTENTLY impeccable, and it apparently isn't...Based upon the fact that I'm way too cheap to EVER spend over $200. on ANY rep, and seldom spend over $150., my chances of sampling his handiwork are slim at best...And I'm perfectly OK with that!!

I was going to buy a DSN Pam but all these horror stories have made me back up and take my business elsewhere, hopefully he will improve, but in the meantime... :|

I am just wondered how come DVN can't make it right from the first time since he knew the flaw. Sometimes it took more than 5 generations to make it just close but still not correct obviously.

Agreed, if Panerai watches are your specialty why are the watches you make so inaccurate? :| ~ I'll bet if any of the PAM fans here get into the rep making business and will ONLY make Panerai Reps, with custom dials, etc. by you, I'm pretty sure they would get it the 1st time, I sure can't do it, I'm not that big of a Panerai fan nor do I have the skills to do so nor the motivation. :|

I have a Gen PAM88 in my hands and when I compare it to DSN pictures his looks perfect, so I am not sure what you are talking about. The hands are exactly as they should be, so before you bash something you should do your homework

You have a gen 88 i your hands do you?? Post a photo for us bigshot.

Take a good look at some pics of the watch- I had an 88 for a while- The minute and hour hands are the same thickness- David's version has the typical rep thin minute hand. It just looks wrong- not to mention that yucky crownguard.

But if you can ignore the poor photos you'll notice his dials look great! IN fact the 229 dial looks the right color- Might be a good opportunity to put a DSN dial and handset on an "Ultimate" version of some of these for a near perfect watch.

I've alerted David to the hands on the 88, he agrees and he is fixing it...

Homework my ass...

I mean just look at the minute hand on a gen 88 and the minute hand on the DSN versoin- It's much thinner- Normally I don't give a crap about little inconsistencies- I have 10 DSN pieces and they all have flaws but they're "perfect" in my eyes.

The 088 has two distinctive features-

The bright silver seconds circle and the equal width handset- If you make them with one hand noticeably thinner than the other, it changes to look of the watch- Still looks cool, just not gen like.

I've been in touch with David with lots of photos- he sees the error and he says it should take 2 weeks to make a new handset.

The only way we get these things right is to tell the maker what's wrong- unlike the other dealers David is actually having most of the parts custom made, so if it's wrong and you can communicate it to him- he'll fix it. He has a new 005 on the way and when the movements are in- a redesigned 111H that should be quite nice.

Thanks for the photos-

I had an 88 for a while- wish I still did cause they're getting so damned expensive-

I think once David gets it right it will be just fine.

ok, i see it now, the lume looks too green and the minute hand is really small. is the gmt arrow also a little small or is it just the picture?

Hands need replacing with correct ones, I agree. Minute hand should be wider with its luminous part shorter. GMT hand has to be longer. DSN luckily has the correct hands set available.

Green lume is correct on recent 088 series. Panerai gradualy introduced green lume on most of their watches from contemporary line from G-series onwards. Now almost 90% of their contemporary watches come with green-ish lume, both when uncharged and charged, so the color of DSN's 088 lume is correct in that respect if he's replicating 088 of more recent series.

when i first got into buying reps, i looked at dvn's first and almost pulled the trigger. i have heard so many different stories ranging from sublime to tragic and unfortunately, the tragic ones win out for me. too much of a hassle to send all the way back if you get a watch with quality control issues.

How about the date mag and the DW? It seems that his 229 and 104 has a better date magnifications and AR as well.

I got an e-mail from Davidsen the other day and he said he's pushing the release of the 104 for about a week to resolve the second hand issue.

So, that's 1 down. =)

What's left on the list?
- 3 and 9 markers
- "L SWISS MADE L" :)

Not too bad IMO. A little love to the CG and Crown and you have a pretty nice piece.

I think we need to remember, those who post most, is the ones who are "not pleased". And, since Davidsens sells fifteen watches a week, he is bound to have problems with a few.
