Hi,

Why the "Officine Panerai" blue font at the display back of 6497 H, is so much inaccurate to the gen?
Is it so difficult to be written correctly?

This is one reason why I choose PAM0001B with solid caseback. I think it is the most accurate base model among the Panerai reps.

I am very pissed about this also. I am finally ready for my first PAM and thought that accurate ones would be available since there are such complex watches being repped so perfectly now. But just found out about the font.

I too would lik a 001b now but babola said no one sells them anymore with the correct case back etc...

I am willing to get all the mods necessary done, but I want the result to be accurate and the fonts just dont allow that. Im still doing research and will make a post shortly about the "perfect" modded panerai.

I am not an an expert (and maybe I' m wrong) but since rep watchmakers have made perfect work on really difficult parts of a watch, I cannot understand the problem with the specific fonts....

why is it not possible ? - we asked the same question a year ago already !
no prob it is possible.....but.....theres gotta be room for upgrades...otherwise everyone would buy the perfect rep....and the dealers could not excite anybody no more !
thats why its not possible !

The problem is the CG - caseback still can be had, but that damn polished CG is the problem :)

Babola suggested that I could polish it with cape cod, I will be trying this in a few weeks :)

Because it's a sticker.

Fonts are where you can see something being a micron out. You may as well ask why the cogs are bevelled wrongly, why they've never made a perfect swan's neck or why there has never been a 1:1 perfect Dial.

IMHO it doesn't really matter if the font is wrong, since the movement does not even come close to the gen as far as the finish is concerned - so everybody that has seen a gen movement will know immediately and the ones that don't won't know the difference of the font

Not only that-

If someone knows enough about watches in general or Panerai in particular- You're going to hand over your $300 rep and say "Yeah it's a genuine Panerai"-

That kind of makes YOU the fool- doesn't it??

Isn't it much sweeter to buy the one you like, wear it every day without worrying about it's value, and if a WIS or Paneristi asks you tell em straight up "It's a "Swiss" replica"

All they will want to know is "can you get me one??"

I gotta be honest- most of these reps are just fine- They look great, they feel good, they function perfectly... the quest for the perfect forgery just doesn't compute for me. I've walked into Watch shops with my Davidsen reps plenty of times- Even had em off the wrist- never had a question. If I was walking into a Panerai Dealer I would NEVER take it off my wrist.
